We have been at war with this virus gone on two years and the virus has taken a staggering human toll. Give me an abundance of caution over a flurry of impulsivity any day. To date, scientists and doctors have been stymied by the dazzling unpredictability of SarsCov2 more than a few times. No one can say with a certainty that the ambitious understudy for the Omicron variant is not anxiously waiting in the wings. As long as a tangible, quantifiable threat remains, my grandkiddos will keep their masks on in pre-school. The wee ones are far too precious to stake their health on a roll of the dice.

With so many variables--and such differences among nations (e.g.: population density and degree of homogeneity, standards of medical care, vaccination rates, climatic status, tourism, etc.)--logic dictates that one not draw any conclusions from such flimsy data.
