Hawley rather missed the point made by Senator King: Senator King stated--based on his active participation in the Senate Intelligence Committee--that they (the committee members) did not have "months and months of advanced warning" about the likelihood of a rapid collapse of the Afghani military and government. Senator King referenced his direct experience as a member of the intel committee, experience obtained well prior to the actual American withdrawal from Afghanistan, in contrast to Hawley's deployment of information from a report--"limited in scope," as noted by the witness--produced post facto, well after said events occurred. Senator King asserted his knowledge of the flow and nature of the intel and that his direct experience runs contrary to the "spectacular failure to heed advanced warnings theory" that the theatrical Senator Hawley keeps banging away at. Given Hawley's combative reaction, which like so much of Hawley's exposition seemed rather rehearsed, I half expected him to challenge the senior senator to a duel.
