  1. Erik Kirschbaum shows a depth of ignorance--or a willful ignorance driven by partisanship--when he praises Trump/Kirschner for facilitating the new accords between Israel and both Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The very suggestion that Trump merits a Nobel prize nomination for these accords is an outrageously offensive suggestion. As noted, Israel did not have hostile relations with The Kingdom or with the UAE priorto the new accords.. The accords merely formalized what had already existed: Israel already had benign relationships with both treaty signatories. Neither posed a threat to Israel, nor did either stand as an obstacle to Israeli objectives. And both were most certainly not vocal, public critics of Israel. (And as asserted, The Kingdom and the UAE hardly serve as model, democratic states in the Middle East.) So, the treaties functioned as theatre; they most certainly were not Camp David, ground-breaking accords. So despite all the hoopla--as well as the fulsome praise of hacks such as Erik Kirschbaum--the Trump/Kushner Middle East accords are small beer; and their decision to formally recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel--as with the emphasis on the aforementioned "historical accords"--deserve criticism, not a Nobel nomination, for they sent a clear signal to Palestinians; The Trump administration cares not a jot about a two-state solution, nor about the plight of the oppressed, and imperiled people living under Israeli occupation. So much for the Kushner orchestrated blossoming of peace in the Middle East.
