While lacking the sanguinary element of a typical coup d'etat, this ongoing outrage should be regarded as nothing less than an attempt to supplant the more than two and a half centuries old mechanisms of the American democracy that govern the transfer of power with those of an autocrat's edicts. How can any reasonable, objective citizen regard Trump's hectoring of several governors in a naked attempt to coerce them into overturning the will of the people as anything but sedition. This is lawlessness, thuggery and prosecutable crimes-damnation to the OLC's opinion that a sitting president cannot be indicted- against sacred tenets of the American democratic system of governance. This must not stand, for if such conduct compels no cost to the perpetrators, then a symbolic, tacit surrender will be assumed by the villains in this obscenity. And any disincentive to repeat this criminal behavior at some future point will have evaporated before the next election.
