I have actually experienced something I would like to share. I used to survey for an engineering firm. Everyone there was VERY well paid and compensated for their time and effort, in three years my wage went up by 5 dollars an hour with consistent raises, GREAT health insurance that covered almost ALL of my mental health expenses (uhc premium plan, although still don't think uhc are a good company), hell even covered a psyche ward stay for me. The management all treated the field guys like kings, our per diem was enough to eat like kings. Man the only people who didn't last at that company were lazy, and the retirement plan is so good that they just had almost no turnover. People don't leave that company. Everyone there worked tirelessly (this is nat gas pipeline, so long work hours and lots of overtime but TONS of pto, so you work 60 hours a week for 9 or 10 months out of the year, then take the rest of the time to yourself with all the money you have saved up). Everyone dillegently did their jobs the right way, pretty much every time. Negligent mistakes pretty much never occured, we were never rushed, never under pressure, and we all just laughed and joked all the time while we worked. Happy, well paid employees work harder. You want them to WANT to retire from your company. You make MORE money as a company in the long run and everyone wins, everyone is happy. Anything else is just a bunch of jokers pretending to be business men. Bezos is a joke.
