Consider most younger Americans never learned to drive manuals, then yes, manual transmission is the best anti-theft device in the USA.

@muppeteer You would rather pick manuals, but you're still allowed to drive an automatic. Manuals are fun and you're in control of your vehicles, but manuals do have some disadvantage in traffic jams.

You making assumptions? It could the person love driving, but have to drive automatic because he's manual car is broken down or stolen by an idiot. I guess Czechs also make fun of bus drivers or even tram drivers because drive automatics? Trams are only automatics, most city buses are automatics.

@Anna-fw7lm "you shouldn't do distracting things while driving!" While that's true, but lot of male drivers can still get distracted by female cyclists in a manual.

@raisan5989 In some countries in Europe, I believe Denmark does this, that it's require by law to drive a manual during driving lessons.

@CB-wt9mt "Learning is well worth not having to worry about your car getting stolen" That wouldn't work in Europe as many people including car thieves know how to drive a manual. If your car getting stolen in the US, there is 90% chance is only get broken into but not stolen.
