@Aotearas I thought the left lanes are should only ever be used to overtake and otherwise kept free. "Only reason to stay in the middle lane on a threelane highway would be if the leftmost lane traffic is slower than you" You know that right lane may become the exit lane, if you don't want to exit yet, you can move to the middle lane if safe. Cars on the slip-road do need to merge onto the motorway, it's illegal to just stop on the motorway, you need to move over or stay on the middle lane.

@dnocturn84 Lane discipline is mandatory everywhere in Europe, you ALWAYS overtake on the left, unless there's slow-moving traffic or if there's an exit on the left.

@fabr5747 It's funny how people just make assumptions what Europeans would say. Don't act like you've met the entire population of Europe.

@geraudamarger9884 French motorways allow 130km/h and sometimes 110km/h, if drivers are going within the speed limit, then they're not bad drivers. There's no law stating car drivers aren't allowed to use middle lane on 3x3 motorways, only truck drivers aren't allowed to use middle lane, unless there's an exit coming up. I swear that lane discipline is always the most controversial topic among car people. Every time lane discipline is brought up by someone, people go all controversial and and tell stories on the comments the other day how they harassed other drivers by yelling curse words at drivers and calling them name while also insulting the driver's family.

@dnocturn84 Yes you must stay on the right most lane, but sometimes you've to use the middle lane for overtaking trucks or if the right most lane may become an exit lane. There are occasions where outer lanes will become slip-roads, meaning a 6 lane motorway will become 4 lane.

It's funny how people say "No one in their right mind would buy a Golf" as if they share money with these people. It's NOT your money, it's their money.

Problem with lane discipline, it's always brought up by controversial people, especially car men.

Wasn't is since 2004?

@geraudamarger9884 What if the rightmost lane becomes an exit lane? Are you suggesting that in France, all drivers are forced to exit if white lines become thicker or shouldn't change lanes to let cars entering the motorway?

@MJ-uk6lu People get harassed by other drivers because they likely harassed them in the past.

@MJ-uk6lu "Nobody cares that much about some randos" Everyone you met in their life were considered random once, that also include your friends. People you never met in real life are consider random, so you also don't care about Ian (IWrocker)?

@TijmenZwaan You probably still don't care about them.

@MJ-uk6lu What if the passerby was actually your girlfriend or wife?

It's funny how people still "our roads are way narrower than in the US" as if all roads are 1 lane wide. While yes Europe has few narrow roads, but not roads in Europe are narrow, some roads in Europe are 4 or 6 lanes wide. People seem to forget that buses and commercial trucks exists.

@matsv201 Yeah but at least suburbia in Europe are more walk-able and cyclist friendly Just like the US, Europe has lot single-family home, but semi-detached as well, many suburbia in Europe have apartments as well. Unlike US, some suburbia in Europe also have buses actually running through them. I rather live in European suburbia than US suburbia.

US seems to have an unofficial policy called "Screw pedestrians, get a car!"

If pop ups are allowed here in the Germany, then why was Corvette C1 and Lotus Espite (both ended production in 2004) the last cars with pop ups?
