"Where as in America with 6 lane highways emergency vehicles are in traffic for HOURS" This is what happens when everyone is basically forced to drive, public transport and infrastructure is bad.

What if you're on an interstate, you must to a complete stop as well? Sound dangerous and stupid. Most European countries drivers only need to move over, stopping isn't required, unless emergency vehicles has nowhere to go.

@lootedwolf8455 "you ain't allowed to wear more then one earpiece, and in most European countries nothing at all" Even when walking as a pedestrian on the sidewalk or in a public space? Some people don't like how load sirens are.

@Muck006 Some people just don't like how loud siren are, they're loud as hell. Some pedestrians without headphones or earpods just cover their ears anyway. Also how would you feel if a fire truck waiting on red light suddenly turned on loud siren and start honking at everyone while you crossing the street?

@ellencatherwood5134 Moving over and stopping completely on the highway just for emergency vehicle does sound a bit unsafe. It doesn't really hurt to just moving over without stopping. Hungary and many European countries drivers just required to move over and stopping isn't required, unless the emergency vehicle is heading on their path.

It's nice that drivers may "allowed" to cross the stop line on a red light when emergency vehicle approaching behind. I guess US and Canada doesn't allow that?

@lootedwolf8455 Well I'm very aware of my surroundings, even when I wear headphones and listen to music while walking on the sidewalk and/or crossing the street. I never purposefully block emergency, but even if you're aware of my surroundings, them suddenly turning on their siren can still surprise or even scare people.

@ellencatherwood5134 You even have to come to a stop on the highways/motorway/autoroute?

@jaskajokunen3716 Of course if a lane is open, you can just stay on your lane. But if the emergency vehicle behind can't use other lanes and uses it's airhorn, then you still must keep going forward and move over if possible. This applies to many countries in Europe. But unlike US and Canada, coming to a complete stop after moving over isn't required. If stopped at a red light, if a emergency vehicle is behind you because other lanes are full, you may cross the stop line, move over and let the vehicle passed. I guess US and Canada doesn't allow that?
