Making $ of existing housing stocks isnt improving or doing anyone any favours or solving any issues that are at hand. If anything it simply makes it worse. Why is this government okay with foreign companies and investors coming into NZ, making tonnes of money from mining, oil and gas and then simply leaving with the profit and not giving almost anything back to NZ society except what... What about all the patients who have operations postponed because the hospital doesn't have capacity? Like the oil companies that just claim there isn't any money left and go into liquidation and leave the NZ tax payer with a 300 million dollar bill to clean it up along with another couple hundred million owing to creditors. All for 600 million $ of royalties... And guess what, a few months later the exact same company is running new oil fields in New Zealand under a different name. Thought they were bankrupt, na seems like they just shifted their money around to avoid paying the 300 million dollar clear up bill. Tui oil fields Tamarind resources went supposedly bankrupt Matahio was granted permission to commence new oil fields in Taranaki Same Management, same CEO. Same everything. Nothing done about it....

New Zealand has 268,021 km² of mostly agricultural land or forest which shouldn't be destroyed to harvest fossil fuels or precious metals and minerals. You know as well as I do that the mining companies in Australia take the majority of the profits offshore and don't pay their fair share in tax. The exact same companies will be brought into NZ and will do the exact same if Shane Jones and lying Luxon allow them..

The houses would still exist for people to rent if they weren't being traded hands and additional if they were being used as a trading platform to make profits then maybe people would be able to afford to buy the house and wouldn't have to rent at all...... Go ahead and invest in building new houses and making new opportunities for people to rent but stop the trading of the existing house market stock which only pushes up the purchase prices and the rental prices along with it. Nobody gains from trading existing housong stock except the rich and what do they do with their money....? Keep it locked away. They aren't investing in businesses and new ventures like they do overseas, because they don't need to. And then the company just liquidated without cleaning up the site which costs NZ tax payers over 300 million dollars. Additionally there was also a few hundred million dollars owed to creditors. Proof royalties don't make any money. So the only people who won something were the large oil companies as always. Jobs are important yes.. but you could also have jobs in almost any other sector so your point is basically irrelevant

The health system has been a shambles for decades through successive governments. Lack of government investment, preference to landlords and tax cuts were given in 2024.. Why not reinvest that money into health and education instead? If people have more money from tax cuts then shops and suppliers can increase their prices, causing inflation. why would you do that? Instead focus on making sure the electricity providers, supermarkets and petroleum suppliers aren't charging us more than they need to... That is what would make life cheaper and easier for kiwis, not tax cuts.

The problem the railway is so bad in Germany is because the CDU government didn't invest enough in railway.. they just let the infrastructure rot away for 15 years... It isn't going to magically fix itself, you need to invest in it. Why should there be flights from Hannover to Frankfurt or Leipzig to Munich when you can easily take a high speed train in a few hours. Germany should follow Frances lead and ban all short haul flights which can be done by train instead within a certain time frame, say 5-6 hours.. smarter not harder !

The problem is the very short haul flights, for example flights from Leipzig to Munich. This is simply unnecessary. Unfortunately the only way to get the consumer away from booking short unnecessarily flights is by either forbidding the airline to operate that route or making it very expensive because generally a lot of people don't care about the environmental impact but they do care about how much it costs....

New Zealand citizens will foot the bill at the end of the day and the profit made will be shipped off overseas. Industrial and commercial plants are completely run by wind and solar power, it's a viable option. Just look at Denmark. Similar population, bigger industrial and commercial use and they don't have any problems using renewable energy. What is your fixation with burning fossil fuels for energy? Profit maybe ?

When it's windy outside and the wind turbines spin or when the big yellow thing in the sky is shining and energy is created this energy is stored and then later supplied when the energy is required. Genius idea right, do you think you are still living in 1950? Even better would be that new houses are built with current technology such as solar panels on the roof which reduces demand on the entire grid as people create and store their own energy for their own needs at absolutely no cost once installed. But yes I agree that the migrants should have stricter requirements to enter, and the employer should have to commit to employing them. It's absolute bullshit that migrants pay for a visa and travel costs to get here just to be told upon arrival there is no job for them.. Lock these employers in to force them to give the migrants the work they promised them. Or pay their costs so they can return home. Employers are just taking advantage of this and exploiting the migrant workers.

At the very start of the pandemic it was announced publicly that the border will be closing and that commercial flights are still available and the government clearly stated if you want to come home you should book a commercial flight immediately as there will be no reparations flights organised by the government, also stated was that if you do not come back to NZ now on a commercial flight you may be put in a situation where you have to stay abroad for 12-36 months.. If you followed the advice you wouldn't be "stuck" or "locked out" of NZ but you obviously decided to stay abroad.. So this comes down to your poor decision making. You also can't tell me you have been applying for a MIQ spot constantly for the last 2 years without any luck. That's an absolute lie. The lottery system was only introduced in 2021... If you wanted to go back to NZ you could of.. but probably similar to the journalist you only wanted to go home at a time that suited you and therefore MIQ can't cater for everyone's specific date requirements.. But yea go on keep spreading your hate and lies. Only makes you look more stupid

Thailand for example has some very good train connections but people take flights instead.. Look at what happened in Dresden the other day, perfect example of lack of infrastructure funding. Don't go blaming DB, blame the government for not providing enough funding...
