Starstreak missile’s destructive power comes from kinetic energy (3 times speed of sound), not explosives. It uses high-velocity tungsten darts that penetrate and destroy targets through impact, rather than an explosive warhead.

  31.  @johnmorley6844  Auto loaders cause the turrets to fly off like a jack-in-the-box!! Sometimes going 200m up in the air! The British finds like feature undesirable and it is why they don't have autoloaders in Challenger II and Challenger III.

  32.  @johnmorley6844  Challenger tanks (and I believe the Abraham tanks) store their munitions away from the crew, behind armoured walls. The Russian T-72 main battle tank's ammunition sits in a carousel-style automatic loader directly beneath the main turret and all members of the crew. It's why the RuSSian tank turrets fly 200m in the air! I love the comedy of it! It's hilarious! I think you should realise that there are different levels of danger - RuSSian tanks are guaranteed to loose the turret and all the crew. To date, the ONLY time a Challenger tank has been destroyed in warfare was by another Challenger 2 in a "blue on blue" (friendly fire) incident in Basra in 2003 when the destroyed tank had its hatch open at the time of the incident. So there's that hahahahahaha

If it underperformed in specific situations, those would be due to external factors, and not necessarily the system itself.

NLAW is taking out tanks.... totally different system that doesn't require a command launcher, and at $26000 a pop it's great value - It's war - not a video game - Pistols and SMGs are useful out to around 50m max. Carbines & Assault Rifles are useful to around 300–400m. Light Machine Guns to around 400–600m. Battle Rifles and Medium Machine Guns to 400–800m. Sniper Rifles and Heavy Machine Guns to 800m or more.

Unfortunately Russia is the lowest rated European country in Transparency Internationals Corruption Perceptions Index for 2021; ranking it 136th out of the 180 countries in the world, which one of the many reasons why no one trusts them or wants to join them.

  67. @trs4u Missile is travelling at 2,302 mph (three times the speed of sound), the laser (speed of light, less 0.3% as it's going through air) is at 670,500,000 mph mph. While wide-field optics are excellent for large-scale observation, they are unsuitable for stopping a laser-guided missile because they lack the precision, speed, and active countermeasures needed to detect, track, and intercept such a incredibly fast threat. Also computer processing speeds are nowhere near fast enough - Starstreak is an almost perfect weapons system.
