  40.  @DoubleplusUngoodthinkful  Legal court cases added more it's true but the written Bill of Rights as opposed to the UK's based only on rights granted by the Crown and legal precedent by their courts is woefully inadequate. The fact ours is written and comes NOT from a privilege granted by the King/ state but as our rights as simply being a human being was the basis for the civil right movement and the pattern for many constitutions of our southern neighbors and other countries. Eg, People in the UK being arrested for speech deemed "bad" by authorities. No written First Amendment as a solid base for legal cases just previous court cases and precedents.
