  2. My Dad was in WW2 and like many vets loved Patton as my Ancient History professor did. We could get him to forget pop quizes by just mentioning Patton. Lol!

  3. Taking German as a language requirement helped me. And as for Shakespeare the old King James helped too. Although as a kid you got some weird ideas because of the changing word definitions over the years. Eg, the word "fear"means" respect". As a kid it was confusing because I did not feel afraid of God.

  4. My Dad was a B24 pilot in the Army Air Corp and saw a lot of damage and carnage left in Europe by the Nazis. He loved Patton too. His first cousin was in the artillery and his battery was hit by a German shell. He had schrapnel in his back til he died. Dad passed at 93 and he and Harold never talked much about the war. Those kids who grew up in the Depression were tough but humble and they gave us the economy and freedom we enjoy today.

  5. My ancestors were from that area of Europe then northern England then to the American South. I was watching a UK program and they said, "I reckon". And my ears perked up as my great aunts and great granny used that phrase often.

  6. I thank the Lord I recieved an old fashioned classical education with a strict core curriculum at GSU back when it was primarily a teachers college. I breezed through graduate work at a big university.

  8. My Dad told me during the Depression the agriculture regulations put on farmers caused a lot of grief and loss of money. My grandfather once was told by a government inspector to plow under a whole field of winter wheat because he was one acre over the limit allowed.

  12. You poor kid. So sorry for you. Being at the hands of a predatory person is truly frightening even if you manage to escape. I almost was assaulted by my best friend's Dad. He was a highly respected person and I felt if I said anything it would ruin her family. I was so scared so I just got away as quick as I could and never went back. I'm sorry you didn't have an escape.

  13. I agree. The rubbish taught today is fantasy not history. Second guessing those on the scene and 80 years later based on your biases isn't history. My old history prof said leave your modern prejudices, ideas, interests, etc at the door and immerse yourself in the music, ideas, events, ecomony, customs, religion of whatever you are studying as much as humanely possible.

  18. Two thoughts. Millions of years of biologically cannot be over turned by modern unscientific personal delusions. And tribalism and our propensity to draw territorial circles around ourselves will prove hard for globalists to change even with their billions.
