An atttempt to sway the jury by commenting outside court? Hoping for a mistrial? Either way this judge shoots straight. He weighs everything.
277
He has lied about that and I think it's key to the case against him. It shows his character. His willingness to lie and cheat and fake this gives credence to his possible murder of his wife and child. Regardless he is a bad bad man.
81
True. The Judge gave him a last chance to say he was sorry but he wouldn't.
36
Wow! What a skunk! I hadn't heard that.
35
Most cases aren't like CSI or Perry Mason anyway. Most are circumstantial. I think the timeline and the fact this guy was a prosecutor as well as an accident injury lawyer shows he knew how to manipulate evidence,eg using two guns and hiding evidence of clothing and the guns.
27
The financial finagling he indulged in was a key to these murders. He was sending money meant for clients to fake accounts.
24
Lol! The hint was there!
23
That poor woman worked as a nanny and housekeeper for twenty years for them and he diddled her boys out of their insurance and paying Mom's medical bills.
22
And there's the knowledge he may get off and he and his family rule that part of the state whether he gets off are not.
22
Me too. His buddy at the bank was a fool. As were his partners at the law firm or CYAing just not wanting to rock the boat.
20
I hope the Judge let's this boy testify. It shows his character and cold nature. I had doubts but after seeing what he did to all these poor trusting people and his clients I can believe he offed his family for money.
19
Which brings up the question as to where are the clothes and guns he wore? The time line was relatively brief so they are either in water or buried.
17
I think he killed them. But whether the jury can get their heads around this level of heinous crime involving killing one's on son is the question. But it happens. And Alex was on drugs so there's that.
16
It sure didn't cloud his mind on how to swindle his poor clients.
16
What a mess for that poor young man, Miss Maggie's parents and sister, BIL ,nieces, and the whole family.
15
I heard they are reinvestigation the housekeeper/ nanny's death. I bet they've scanned the old man's grave.
13
They have done at times. And should everytime and for the Judge too.
12
He's very fair and follows the law on evidence, etc.
11
Especially since they are such a powerful family. She is a brave lady.
10
Beautiful red hair. I know that's awfully trivial but that struck me about the boys. They look their Dad. Poor boys.
10
Well, he is a Democrat. Lol!
10
I think they were both shot dead from behind.
9
@maxxedtfout It was his arrogance that got him. He thought he could con the jury like he'd done is financial victims. I hope they get justice too. He's still facing all that too.
9
@river8760 My family is full of red heads. Lol! Scots-Irish. Ranging from platinum blondes to strawberry, bright red, auburn to chestnut, etc.
9
Think of the poor retirees he probably swindled. I hope he wasn't managing pension funds.
9
Never disagree with your lawyers when they tell you don't talk.
8
I think he killed the housekeeper too. He stole her insurance money from her family.
8
Judges are impartial but being from there I'm sure the judge knew what a stinker he was.
8
That to me is the crux of the matter. And he probably blamed the wife and kid for his downfall like all addicts.
7
Fake crying.
7
Think old county families with money and political clout and power going back generations and interelated. This guy was a big fish in a little pond and entitled as were the sons. My Mom's family across the Savannah River were in the same county going back to a King George land grant before the Revolution and were related to scores of families in three surrounding counties and even in SC.They were elected to Judgeships, County Commissioners, Clerk of Court, School Boards, etc. And when I went to a nearby college I met profs and student who were more cousins I'd never met in yet another county. Lol!
7
They are deciding what the judge would allow on the financial fraud cases and if it can come in on a murder trial.
7
Sounds more than eight steps and by all accounts she was a plump lady so had lots of padding. I've got bad eightsight and have tumbled down very tall stairs several times without breaking bones.
6
Can't imagine finding out your besr friend since childhood and your second Mom is dead and killed by the father and husband. He can at least be comforted that that phone call shows the alibi was a lie.
6
Cousin Eddie has been singing like a bird.
6
His attitude of going from grief to blank looks to smugness is what disturbs me. If he's innocent he should be showing anger and grief. I think he did it now but they are a powerful family and killing your own son and wife the mother of your children is beyond a normal person's understanding and that never read case files.
6
This is evil. That's what it looks like.
5
100 years of his family controlling five counties 's 14th Judicial District and he shamed and destroyed It all.
5
You're just trying to start something. Lol!
5
Depends on if they have a conscience.
5
The Edisto property was in Miss Maggie's name and they probably had insurance.
5
No but this dude is an evil con man. You read about people like this but boy it's creepy
5
She was running away and he was shot at close range from the back. There was stippling on him not her. She was farther away and no stippling. Whoever was shot first was the person most likely to provide the most risk to the perp.
5
They know he was wearing a different outfit earlier that day than what he was wearing later at the crime scene. They have a photo. If it isn't anywhere at any of the family houses that alone is evidence he threw them away and why did he?
5
And fears them.
5
He lied over and over. Con artist trying to con the jury
5
I remember seeing a documentary on that case. He moved on and remarried and lived another life. No conscience?!
4
He's a big crook and who knows he might get off at least on the murder charges. And remember he's got a brother and son who are part of the Murdaugh clan. They are still powerful. And thst may or may not help him.
4
He even drove past the murder house later that morning between 9 and 9:00 am. And had scoped it out at least 12 times before the killings! But Thank God he left DNA and the leather knife sheaf at the scene. I guess he wasn't as clever as be thought.
4
@randylahey2242 No appeal to God's judgement if you don't confess.
