The idea that the dictator is the living embodiment of the nation and its people is what sets fascism apart from regular authoritarianism. Stalin was a strongman, but he was never seen as the embodiment of the USSR. The USSR changed hands numerous times. Stalin and his successors were just the means to spread communism that the people deemed strong enough to do so. Hitler, Muosolini, and Franco, however, paraded themselves as the ultimate manifestations of their nation's nationalism, divinely anointed with the destiny of being their nation's messianic savior. This is how Trump sees MAGA. He's not just leading America. He's saving America. He's not just the President of the United States. He literally is the United States in the flesh. You can hear in how Jack Posobiec talks about Trump. He describes the mandate the American people gave him as being placed on his head, like a crown.
