  1. The DOE ensures funding for special needs students and protects them from being kicked out of school. Before Carter created the DOE, it was common for special needs students to be kicked out of school. As someone with Asperger's and ADHD, resource classes are what allowed me to become an honors student. Up until 5th grade, I couldn't keep up with the class because I've always had a hard time focusing. Dismantling the DOE would ruin the lives of millions of children with special needs. Education is a right. We need the DOE to hold every state accountable in order to ensure that special needs children aren't discriminated against and denied the quality education that they deserve.

  4. Companies exist to make a profit by any means necessary, even exploitation. Governments exist to ensure the well-being of the people, often times at a financial loss. For example, the MTA always operates at a financial loss, but it doesn't need to make a profit, because the economic boom the subway creates makes the investments worth it anyway. A company however, just wouldn't build the transit at all, because they don't care about the local economy or the upward mobility about the neighborhood. That's not in their interest. Their only interest is making money.

It essentially forces the companies to be held accountable to the government.

  8. Had it not been for COVID, these games would've been one of the all-time greats. Please just postpone them to 2022. The Olympics are an event that should always be held to its max potential. Team Japan deserves their home crowd. The athletes deserve to be with their families. The world deserves to gather in Japan. The Games deserve to actually be a festival worthy of celebration. My disappointment and anger over how little the IOC cares about saving lives as well as the heart and soul of the Olympic movement all for the sake of greed is immeasurable.

  10. @nope-87-12x  Tax breaks aren't the be-all and end-all of saving money. What's the point of paying lower taxes if you get nothing out of them? People constantly say that free healthcare will raise their taxes, but what's more expensive? Insurance and thousands of dollars for every single appointment, or a tax increase? Sometimes, the tax increase means you save money.

Choosing your own middle school and high school is only practical when you have walkability and viable alternatives to driving. Without those two things, the distance between most schools and the economic barrier to owning a vehicle for poor families (one used car costs more than the entire annual income of a low-income family of four), both make traveling outside of your school district impractical because would be forced their kids an even longer distance, there's no transit or bike lanes for the kids take themselves to school, and kids can't drive until they're 16.

We are now living in a 2nd Gilded Age, and corporately induced inflation is the inevitable result of that. We are currently experiencing what the 1920's America experienced. Teddy Roosevelt than implemented high taxes on the rich and strict anti-trust laws to prevent a 2nd Gilded Age from occurrence, but Reagan, Bush, and Trump all slowly chipped away at all of his policies, so now, we're back to where we started all over again. This economic crisis is nothing new. It's the result of decades of build up. 2008 was just the preview. COVID was just the spark that popped the bubble.

They don't want to admit that their movement isn't really about Christ. 2. They can't separate Christian power from Christian liberty. They are two separate things, yet to the Christian Nationalist, they are inseparable. The Christian Nationalist's version of The Great Commission is turning America into a theocracy by any means necessary, while the true Christian's Great Commission is to spread the Gospel. The Christian Nationalists think that without acquiring political power, their faith will die. They have the weakest faith of all Christians. The Christian movement was designed to endure through any government under any circumstances and it has for thousands of years. But once the poor and minorities are finally being given upword mobility, this flies out the window to them.

  36. @ Yes, but special needs kids require special accommodations because they have learning disabilities, yet instead, we've got scumbags like Matt Walsh claiming that ADHD doesn't exist and that it's just laziness. We now have an administration that doesn't recognize the existence of intellectual disabilities and being hostile towards any attempt to recognize them and help these kids get the education they need.

Blue states might protect neurodivergent students and teach civil rights history, as they should, while red states might rewrite their textbooks to lie to the students how the Civil War was fought over "state's rights" and kick neurodivergent students out of school like they used to be and get away with it, because there's no DOE to hold them accountable for the most basic of responsibilities anymore.

Like hyperloop, that "bus" (it's a glorified taxi), the Tesla tunnels in Vegas, and the cybertruck. The Tesla tunnels are just a subway network without the trains, hyperloop only holds two people per pod while the shinkansen can carry over 1,300 per train, his "bus" is just a mini van with a futuristic aesthetic, and the cybertruck has terrible visibility, handling, very little storage in comparison to literally any other vehicle, a stainless steel exterior that literally rusts, sharp edges that literally cut you, and it has no rear view camera. For such a genius, the average truck is a way better. You'd the real life Tony Shark would be smart enough to build a window that doesn't crack at the reveal. His inventions only exist to serve rich people. That's why they have such little capacity. Because only rich people who want to pretend their fighting for sustainability can afford them. And besides, even if he is a genius (which he's not), it doesn't matter. The world's richest man having that much political in the palm of his hands is never a good thing. That's him total unelected control over our government. That's not intelligence. That's corruption.

Have you forgotten that vaccines take years to make, but this one was rushed in under a single year while being made and funded by the same people, particularly Bill Gates, that made a defective polio vaccine in Africa that only made everyone even more sick, and caused mass sterilizations and birth defects back in the pre-pandemic world when they weren't being rushed.
