  1. It's insane to me how Americans can be so scared of authoritarianism, yet simultaneously support giving HOA's authorization power. We've been constantly told since we were kids that suburbia is a place where individuals can be themselves, and own and control their own property, yet the reality is that its just a wannabe Truman Show where everyone is forced to blindly obey the script against their will. Yet we're somehow delusional enough to call that "freedom." Hyper-individualism when it's convenient for me. Hyper-collectivism when it's convenient for me. HOA's need to be banned nationwide. Their existence is incompatible with a truly free society.
