We've been saying "just one more lane bro" for the past years, yet we still never learn. Building an entirely new bridge when you can just renovate the existing one is stupid. Just think of the amount of homes that will have to be bulldozed in order to make this happen.

Honestly, I'd take it, because unlike America, Denmark would actually be willing to grant us independence.

@Atrail_Mckinley4786 Even if you replace the bridge, that still does not justify widening the highway. Not only would it induce more car traffic like it always has, but as pointed out in this video, it will just make the Lincoln Tunnel bottleneck even worse. The Lincoln Tunnel only has two lanes. Just imagine how awful the traffic of trying to squish a packed multi-lane highway into just two narrow tunnel lanes. If you think NY/NJ traffic is already hell now, then just imagine that. And that's not even mentioning the amount of homes that would have to be destroyed to make that happen. Think about it. Displacing people to build the roads that are supposed to connect said people. Especially in a housing crisis on top of that. The oxymoronic logic of that is mind boggling.

The fact that they can't reschedule the game is so unfair to the athletes. Imagine working so hard for what has been your whole life at that point, to get to the State title, and it suddenly gets ripped out of your hands out of nowhere with no chance of getting it back. When I was in marching band in high school, the State Championship got cancelled and postponed to the next week all four years in a row. If USBands can do it, so can the NJ Athletic Association. This is ridiculous.

It's not a coincidence that this suddenly begins after congestion pricing is finally implemented. The MTA would never be able to afford these needed infrastructure projects without congestion pricing.

@Atrail_Mckinley4786 You just widen a tunnel. Tunnels are fixed to be a certain size or highly pressurized to keep the water out. You can't just cut open the size and add more lines. That's not how physics works. And again, that would just create more induced demand, and just think about all the buildings that would need to be demolished in Manhattan just to accommodate all the new lanes.

This is a great, but the fact that the new tunnels being built will demolish the entire block south of Penn Station is ridiculous. We need to force MSG out so that we can not only rebuild Penn Station back to its former glory, but also save all the residents and businesses there from being forcing out and protect the historic 1872 St. John the Baptist Church there from being demolished.

@Atrail_Mckinley4786 Protests have stopped highway expansions from being built multiple times before. If complain didn't have the power to change that, then Robert Moses would've successfully slashed 3 major highways slashed through it already.

How are you supposed to tell who is legal and who's not just by looking at them? Even people with accents can be legal documented immigrants.
