Reasons I want to move to Australia from the US: No language barrier Weather Beaches Close to Pacific Islands Universal healthcare Paid time off laws High minimum wage Handling of COVID crisis Mateship Better public transit Less normalization of far right crazies Less divisive politics Before I get comments saying how Australia is flawed, I agree that it's an overpriced nanny state, however that is much preferable to the declining empire that is the US.

@ericochoa4271 if the far right doesn't incite violence, why did the Quebec shooter cite Ben Shapiro & why did the Christchurch shooter cite The Great Replacement, Candace Owens, Trump, etc in their manifesto?

As a frequent visitor to Asbury Park you have to be very careful. The food, music, beach, events are why I love it there but it is very sketchy.

@patricksweeney5308 why do you say that?

@JM-dk4ec how would me staying here make me a stronger person?

@TortoiseKing I'm 23 & still need to complete college & obtain an entry level job here before I jump ship to Australia. The right wing loonies replying to me are all the more reasons to leave because everything goes back to culture war nonsense.

@TortoiseKing I was 16.5 when I first thought about moving to Australia due to their superior work-life balance, when I was 17, the higher consumer prices & lower high-income salaries discouraged me from moving out there as well as the fear of losing contact with all of my high school friends & adjusting to college pushed that pursuit back as well. The thought reignited during quarantine & has only gotten stronger the more I encounter COVID deniers (especially if family/friends). I'm 23 & still struggle with how to deal with people who disagree with you in bad faith. There's a playlist called the Alt-Right Playbook that describes what the people flooding my comments are doing. Where in the US are you from & where in Australia are you trying to move to?

@TortoiseKing other countries I'd consider are NZ & Canada. & if I was determined to learn a new language, any of the Scandinavian countries. I'd want to live in a suburb with good public transit to the CBD of Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane because they all have direct flights to the US.

I'm suprised South Dakota is one of the lowest because of the Sturgis rally

@TortoiseKing what happened?

@julianhermanubis6800 I think they'll like me more than right wing loons like you

@charliebrown3316 Australia does have dangerous animals & is very environmentally fragile but it probably is net safer due to lower crime/poverty, never unable to afford treatment, & taking a global health crisis seriously. The distance factor is something that could make me end up staying in the US, however, a big factor of why I'd only live in a suburb (with good public transit to the CBD) of Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane is because they have direct flights to the US. I appreciate your comment not being relied on up far-right culture war rhetoric.

@julianhermanubis6800 of course there are right wingers in Australia but the overall political scene is further left than America's & less of a reality show. Elaborate how you're not on the right?

@iplaycod056 elaborate

@julianhermanubis6800 I don't consume that much Australian media but I often read indexes & studies of country analysis & Australia often beats the US & I associate that with Australian government intervention in the economy. I've never said it's perfect but it's a balance of what I seek in a country.
1
@julianhermanubis6800 how doesn't universal healthcare system, higher min wage, mandated paid time off make a country further left? Of course there are conservatives there such as their PM but governments are made of multiple factions

Do you think he's the reason why Manchin gets reelected?
