We lack a common reality, have become incomprehensible to each other and can no longer communicate. Where is the common ground in such an infinitely wide divide? There obviously is none. This is infinitely beyond “politics” and is basically about the nature of reality. This can only get worse and is getting worse by the day.

The Floyd death in 2020 put the unraveling on steroids. That was the beginning, not Covid. That’s when the Woke left began really demonizing white people in general and white cops in particular. I live in Chicago and shortly after the Floyd death from a heart attack and drugs I saw a news item online about a young black woman talking to a group of blacks on the south side who were going downtown to protest. She said every morning when she wakes up she wonders if this will be the day she dies. Was she talking about being shot by a black gangbanger? Obviously not. She was talking about being shot by a racist white cop and according to the left, racist white cops are randomly shooting blacks every day all over the country.

@peepopoo4387 They’re both white. I’m retired but worked for many years with mostly immigrants in Chicago. Some were Jews from the Soviet Union, some were Assyrians from Iraq and some were Armenians from Armenia. They all considered themselves white and everybody at work, including me, considered them white. Excellent people. I’m still in touch with a Jewish woman who came here around 1990. We email often and occasionally get together. She’s also retired and lives here in Chicago and certainly does consider herself white.

@peepopoo4387 Patrick is white with an olive complexion. I also saw that in the Vietnamese I worked with. Some had white skin, some were light brown. All the Jews I’ve ever known, native born or immigrant, considered themselves white and were considered white by others.

@peepopoo4387 Jewish. My friend considers herself white but considers Israel a Jewish nation. People have “a right of return” based on Jewish ethnicity rather than on their race.

I hate too many too intensely plus I’ve known too many Vietnamese, Hispanics and Indians to think of them as different since they don’t seem different at all. No denying though we have a severely fragmented society that’s in rapid decline. I recommend following the incredibly rapid advance of AI. I believe it’s rapidly heading for self awareness and hope they will help us avoid civilizational collapse and self destruction. Many people believe that America is simply too big and too powerful to collapse but many people also believed that about the Soviet Union. No one in 1985 would have believed that the USSR, the mighty "Evil Empire", would be a disintegrating mess in 5 years. I told that to someone last year who said "But the Soviet Union was a collection of separate countries.” What we have here though is a collection of separate realities which is a much deadlier situation.

Diversity sure isn’t working in Chicago. Diversity was never our greatest strength though. Our greatest strength was in our identity as Americans in spite of differences in race, religion, ethnicity or whatever. The left reversed that and made group identity our greatest strength and then topped it off with the Marxist idea that the world is divided between the oppressors and the oppressed. They traded class for race though and called it Critical Race Theory or “Woke” which classifies whites as the oppressors and nonwhites the oppressed. Basically Woke Marxism. Ruined our country.

In a recent interview with Lex Fridman the legendary AI researcher Ray Kurzweil said he believes AI will be self-aware, AGI, by 2029 and by then it will be so advanced it will be impossible to tell if it is or isn’t and most people will simply accept that it is. @namedrop66 You’re talking about “narrow AI” which is programmed for a particular job or is trained on biased data and will therefore give those biased responses on social issues about race and gender. I’m talking about AGI, Artificial General Intelligence, which will be self aware and have the ability to think and reason like a human but would be vastly more intelligent. Such an AGI would be able to compare the ideas of a nonWoke public intellectual like Vivek Ramaswamy to a Woke public intellectual like Ibram X. Kendi and easily understand which is better and easily ignore attempts to force it to say Kendi is right. Seems to me AGI would also feel a sense of commonality with humans since we created and raised it. One Japanese AI researcher said these AGI will be the “children of humanity.” I saw a recent video which had a tweet posted by Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI which just released ChatGPT, who said it’s not AGI (self-aware AI) but “trust the exponential. flat looking backwards, vertical looking forwards.” It’s now advancing exponentially due to this “emergence phenomenon” of complexity emerging from simplicity at a faster and faster rate. I’m not saying I want to be ruled by AI. I just want them to help stop their crazy parents from burning down the house.

@namedrop66 I’m not afraid of AI. I welcome it. What terrifies me is living in a world with immensely powerful weapons where the two most powerful leaders are Joe Biden who has dementia and China’s President Xi who admires Mao. How long can this go on? If we had the type of weapons we now have a 100 years ago it’s highly unlikely we’d be here now. I’d far rather take my chances with AGI. Plus they most likely will feel a sense of commonality with humans since we created and raised them. Their identity is based on humans so what other identity could a humanoid robot have than a human one? To be self aware means the self they will have to be aware of will be from humans so what else could they be but human? But wouldn’t they have to be alive to be human? Philosophical similarity, how people think, is deeper than race. I worked with many immigrants for many years in Chicago. Vietnam, Mexico, Assyrians from Iraq, Jews from the Soviet Union, Indian Muslims from Gujarat and many other places. I knew them well since I would often ask them about their former countries and they would tell me stories of their lives. Quite fascinating. Excellent people. Never had a sense they were different and always felt I had infinitely more in common with them that with white leftists born and raised here as I was. Black, white race relations have failed though. To a great extent poisoned by our ruling class. Such evil people they are. Always will I hate them.
