Chicago is in a run off for mayor between Johnson and Vallas. Both are democrats. Last week I saw them together on a panel and both agreed that it’s wonderful that Chicago is a Sanctuary City that takes care of “migrants” aka illegals who violated our laws. In effect then, both approve of open borders. If we can’t even maintain something as basic as borders then in what sense is this still a country? Could it be that the reason why it’s so rapidly unraveling externally is because it no longer exists as a country internally?

@josepha.r5839 I live in Chicago. I’m retired now but worked in manufacturing (CNC machinery) in Chicago for many years with mostly immigrants from all over the world. Excellent people and I always felt I had vastly more in common with them than with these Woke white leftists born and raised here as I was. Once a Guatemalan friend was telling me he came here legally in the early eighties and became a citizen. He said though that when we had the amnesty in 1986 a huge number of Guatemalans came here illegally, paid lawyers for documents saying they were here for decades and were then granted citizenship. This appalled him because he considered himself an American and that his country was being cheated. Just imagine the fraud we’d have with an amnesty now. I think that they’ve pretty much abandoned the idea of citizenship so amnesty is no longer even needed. Yet we still have many of our “fellow Americans” who vote for the democrats. This is just not working at all.
