  1. Many people believe that America is simply too big and too powerful to collapse but many people also believed that about the Soviet Union. No one in 1985 would have believed that the USSR, the mighty "Evil Empire,” would be a disintegrating mess in just a few years. I told that to someone last year who said "But the Soviet Union was a collection of separate countries.” What we have here though is a collection of separate realities which is a much deadlier situation.

  4. I voted for Trump twice and will do so again because he’s still better than the democrats with their open borders, dumbed down schools, demonization of “Whiteness!” and war on meritocracy which they’re replacing with Equity aka Equal Outcomes.

  21. At least we had a southern border under Trump. I live in Chicago and the flood of illegals is one of the things ruining the city. Blacks are furious that our black mayor is spending hundreds of millions to take care of “migrants” while ignoring them. This is just not working at all.

These hatreds are now so deeply embedded in the left that I can’t see any change happening regardless of what information comes out to contradict them. We lack a common reality, have become incomprehensible to each other and can no longer communicate. Where is the common ground in such an infinitely wide divide? There obviously is none. We always just talk past each other.

  25. If the dreadful twentieth century wasn’t so blood soaked and so full of insanity I’d probably find it easier to be an optimist. If we had the weapons we now have a hundred years ago it’s highly unlikely we’d be here now yet humanity now is at least as crazy as it was then. America is no longer enough of a country to even maintain something as basic as its national borders yet you say it’s silly to be pessimistic about our future? We are light years beyond “politics” and are now fully within the realm of civilizational collapse. Anyone who doubts that should follow Chicago or, better yet, the ever worsening chaos on our southern border as thousands of illegals from all over the world pour in every day and simply overwhelm the whole region. We lack a common reality, have become incomprehensible to each other and can no longer communicate. Where is the common ground in such an infinitely wide divide? There obviously is none. This can only get worse and in fact does get worse by the day. This is just not working at all. That’s not pessimism. That’s reality.
