  1. If the dreadful twentieth century wasn’t so blood soaked and so full of insanity I’d probably find it easier to be an optimist. If we had the weapons we now have a hundred years ago it’s highly unlikely we’d be here now yet humanity now is at least as crazy as it was then. America is no longer enough of a country to even maintain something as basic as its national borders yet you say it’s silly to be pessimistic about our future? We are light years beyond “politics” and are now fully within the realm of civilizational collapse. Anyone who doubts that should follow Chicago or, better yet, the ever worsening chaos on our southern border as thousands of illegals from all over the world pour in every day and simply overwhelm the whole region. We lack a common reality, have become incomprehensible to each other and can no longer communicate. Where is the common ground in such an infinitely wide divide? There obviously is none. This can only get worse and in fact does get worse by the day. This is just not working at all. That’s not pessimism. That’s reality.
