Heard it all before. Too many doom and gloom merchants inhabit our world.

Why is Gold, Silver and Crypto treated as an 'investment"? You cannot eat or drink it.

Hock to the bank??? If you DON'T BUY and pay it off before you retire you will be "Hock to a Landlord" instead.

My wife worked for the NHS until she was 67. Received a lump sum pension payment. As savings rates were deplorable she invested in an 4 bed auction property using her lump sum and our savings. She and I have just sold the property after renovating it ourselves over a 6 year period. Being in our late sixties during this period it was not easy for us. We paid £144,000 at auction and sold at £335,000. Obviously we spent money on renovating the property, stamp duty, fees and capital gains tax. We cleared close to £100,000 but worked hard for that money. The question is, are we greedy people?? I don't think so. It is called taking a risk and I feel a lot of people this day and age are not prepared to take risks themselves but despise people who do.

DEMOGRAPHICS will prove you WRONG
4
The only person here with common sense. The golden age is coming to an end thanks to demographics. Millions of us "grey haired people" have driven the Western world's economy for the past 70 years. We are now cashing in our investments in stocks, pension funds and some of us are downsizing. Thanks to this trend, property prices WILL decline, stock markets WILL decline and Europe's economy WILL decline.
4
They ARE
2
Over the next 20 years at least thanks to DEMOGRAPHICS

I hope the government understands the havoc within the rental market that will come about pretty soon. By penalising landlords as the 'bad guys' encourages some tenants to deliberately refrain from paying rent in the full knowledge it will take months before being evicted. If it was not for private landlords many more people would be sleeping on our streets than present.
2
WRONG. You are not taking into account DEMOGRAPHICS
2
and Europe is not flooded with immigration?????
1
You should stop talking about BURNLEY like that
1
Everyone should have a home????? Since when has that been a law in the statute book?
1
Britain's property boom is a national exercise in self-deception???? What a load of tosh. What caused the 'property boom" were the availability of mortgages at historic low interest rates, unfettered immigration to our "small" island, the depreciation of the English pound, virtually zero interest rates on savings and the government's 'help 2 buy" scheme. Let us not forget those thousands of empty properties in our cities bought by overseas buyers and hedge funds as an "investment."

Correct

SO WAS THE CAPTAIN OF THE TITANIC
1
No fantasy. Demographics will destroy the housing market within 20 years
1
Like it should be??? No such thing in the REAL world
1
There you go. A prime example of renting verses buying. You as a renter are at the mercy of rental pricing until the day you die whilst your friend who had the sense to buy a house now owns it and only needs to worry about paying everyday bills. I hope the renters out there realise the bad position they will be in when they retire with a much reduced income.

There is also a shortage of eggs

Rubbish. What is a Ponzi scheme is the pension scam which you no doubt pay into. The pensioners receiving their monthly pensions now are in effect receiving your money. The money the pensioners paid in during their working lives was spent eons ago. As this country is basically bankrupt with a 2.3 TRILLION debt mountain (£35,000 PER PERSON) don't expect the luxury of a pension when YOU retire.
1
at least someone has sense around here
1
everyone who works for an employer IS a servant to someone else.
1
Why more "council houses"?? Why not more "affordable housing" for the workers?
1
Did you ask the agent if he is Nostradamus
1
What some idiots don't realise is this. If you have a HOUSE and pay it off by the time you retire you will survive on a pension. If you rent all your working life and intend to rent on a reduced income (pension) you will regret that decision BIG time.
1
The STOCK MARKET IS a PONZI scheme and is MANIPULATED. Thanks to DEMOGRAPHICS the STOCK MARKET has ONE WAY to go and that is DOWN. The GOLDEN AGE is OVER.
1
and inflation
1
you work for HMRC
1
So you can afford to buy food at today's "inflated' prices??
1
One BIG problem. Belgium is in the EU and the UK is NOT. Belgium citizens can move and work in a cheaper EU country FREELY if they choose too. Here in the UK we are stuck on a floating Island hell hole if we like it or not.

8 people??? What a load of tosh. It depends on LOCATION, PRICE, CONDITION.
