Instead of housing all the illegal immigrants in expensive fancy hotels bus them to the streets of Horden and other deprived areas. Bring some life back to these towns instead of throwing tax money at the greedy hotel owners. The majority of those who still live in these towns would benefit with the influx of new neighbours from various cultures. Who would complain? No doubt those who would prefer ghost towns based on their unfounded hatred of those with a different religion or skin colour.

Last poll out says the UK is the second most depressed country in the world. Looking around me, I can believe it.

The smart phone is the worse anti social gimmick ever.
6
The good stuff they keep for themselves.

The weather in the UK is crap. Train fares as you say are ridiculous. Roads are full of potholes, speed bumps and heavy traffic. Beaches look more like mudflats. Drugged out zombies begging on street corners. Shopfronts boarded up and adorned with graffiti. Yes, book me a flight to Ibiza please.
4
It's rough living in parts of London, Manchester and Liverpool too.
4
Blame locals for using supermarkets in the first place. If one cannot be bothered to support local shops don't moan when they are gone.
4
So you are part of the problem then by association.
3
The UK was voted recently as the second most depressed country in the WORLD. So you are not wrong.
3
Maybe they read that charity shop directors earn a kings ransom.
3
Won't happen except for the usual pound shops, aldi's and lidl's. Our economy is now a low paid service industry and most manufacturing is outsourced to countries with a cheaper labour force.

My son lived in Burnley (Cog Lane) for three years whilst working for a local company. I visited him a number of times. Decent people in Burnley as far as I am concerned. You cannot paint everyone with the same brush. There is good and bad wherever one lives. So many empty homes so ideal for all those economic migrants flooding the UK. Cheaper for the taxpayer than shoving them in some hotel at £100 a night.

with the occasional shattering of glass from a brick being thrown to jog you back to reality.

It is packed. With MUD.
2
More like 100 million
2
How things can change in 60 years.
2
Here too. I just opened a tin of sardines for the cat.
2
Why would there be traffic when there are no occupants??? And who in their right mind would want to park their car in those streets.
2
well you now know where to move too instead of paying for a 250K mortgage for the next 25 years.

I lived in Hounslow, West London for 26 years under the Heathrow Airport flightpath. I moved up north 17 years ago. Recently I went back for a few days to see some old buddies. I feel sorry for the younger generation paying ridiculous prices just to keep a job. The bankers, solicitors, estate agents and surveyors are making a mint. Since I left it seems London has become very impersonal, grubby and it's difficult to even believe it's an English city.
2
Maybe the "working man" as you put it should have invested instead of spending their wages in the working mens clubs and public bars like my dad did.
2
I am not being a snob but the Italians and Spanish have pride in the country's culture and have many street celebrations. We, on the other hand, are losing our culture due to mass immigration. We are even too embarrassed to wave our own British flag in case we are labelled racist thugs.
2
Be careful. There are good roads and bad roads. Check the police crime stats
1
Why would landlords hike up rents to levels which force closure. It does not make economical sense to me. Now they receive zero rent.
1
Move to Thailand or Vietnam and rent a 2 bed apartment with sea views, swimming pool, gym, sauna and 24 hour security for around £325 per MONTH. Britain is called rip off Britain for a reason
1
answer: Cheap airfares to sunnier exotic locations.
1
Walk around Rhyl town late on a Friday or Saturday night and see what happens
1
Wow! At least someone in the comment section live in reality land
1
So desperate people have a right to vandalise and steal other's property???
1
Don't worry, they will as soon as Labour win the election and double your council tax to pay for it. I don't think you will be too happy but that's life.
1
In ONE building whilst the rest are decaying
1
Money to be made in pretending a university status. Further education is nothing but a big con to entrap our young people into a lifetime of servitude to our masters. (the central banksters). There are more people with useless degrees than you may think.
1
How about shop CUSTOMERS. Without customers there will soon be no OWNERS.
1
Many street vendors in Asia are unlicensed. They pay off the police ie: corruption
1
What ruins the place is the sea front. Looks more like a muddy bit of ocean.
1
How about a "Las Vegas"???
1
I think the scorching sun and lack of water in the Sahara desert blinded the poor fellow
1
Shame most people cannot even afford cinemas at £7 per head, bowling at £20 and a restaurant meal at £40.
1
Who fancies walking in the pis*ing rain a mile to their car ( £5 parking charge) laden with their meat, fruit and veggies?? Better to order online in one's pyjamas.
1
When a country spends literally billions on a defunct National Health Service, billions more on social security payments, billions on social services, billions on an out of date education system and billions squandered on government contracts, then do not be surprised when the infrastructure of the country starts to crumble around one's ears.
1
Improving?? Better go to Specsavers

HA, ha, ha My goodness I have to laugh at this comment. Blackpool compared to Hua Hin in Thailand is like comparing goat's milk to cow;'s milk
1
The more pubs which close down the better in my view. My younger brother died at 40 thanks to liver failure due to alcohol and my father beat the shi* out of me and my step mum when I was a kid thanks to being drunk on whisky. Alcohol does more damage to society than anything else I know. Ban it.
1
I can get 5 LARGE frozen 100% battered Cod fillets from COSCO for £9.99 which is £2.00 each. How much is a couple of spuds to make chips. The problem is, people are too lazy to cook their own.
1
If you don't keep up with technological changes (by educating oneself) then you will be left behind for being (uneducated).
1
The Afghans are good with their jokes.
1
How about sponsorship from umbrella companies??
1
Look towards the sea and you will understand why
1
Maybe they are waiting 10 weeks for the local council to pick it up like I had to do recently.
1
Why would a digital nomad end up in Blackpool is a very good question. So many exotic tropical places to stay around the world and thanks to Mr Musk's Starlink internet ££££ can be earned anywhere. But Blackpool???
