  1. I take exception "blaming" the elderly for the rot within our society. Being an amputee since my early twenties I have never once received or asked for benefits and I worked all my life. The jobs I did were low paid and my monthly pension which I have to live on is a paltry £610 per MONTH. I know I could claim pension credit but I refuse to do so. I am lucky in a way, as I managed to pay off my home BUT I missed out of a lifetime of meals at restaurants, takeaways, pub crawls, decent clothing and holidays to Ibiza. In my area, eateries and pubs are full of patrons. I might add, the patrons look as though they are in their 20's to 30's age range. However, when I read the news, rental and 1st time buyers complain how difficult it is to pay rent or get on the housing ladder. If one lived within their means instead of this attitude "I want it now" and in the process max out their credit cards is that my fault??? This consumerism driven mindset needs to change instead of blaming us old codgers for their financial situation. We are NOT all well to do as you may think.
