  1. I worked like a dog for 30 years from the age of 18. By the time I was 48 I had £4,000 cash to my name. I bought a 2 bed terrace house at auction using that £4,000 as my deposit (the house cost £37,000). I sold it two years later for a profit. Eventually I was able to buy property outright for cash. Now retired abroad in the Far East I live on rental streams from my portfolio. If I had rented over the years I would not be in the positive financial position I am in now. One thing I do agree on however. One's main home is a LIABILITY and not an ASSET if YOU are living in it. The opposite is true if you rent it instead.
