  1. In most of the world generations of family live together in one household or at least within the same village. In the west the youngsters demand their own independence. They leave home and either buy their own home or rent driving up prices of what is available. It is called supply and demand.

  2. Try living in those no go zones in Sweden where even the police fear to tread. No landlord in their right mind would dare raise rents there. I think their property would become a blackened shell if they did.
