I find it impossible to believe that the arrest of Major General Popov was anything other than unjust retribution after he sacrificed his own career by speaking out over the treachery his men were faced with. "I had no right to lie", he said, in calling out his superiors. An honest man paid a terrible price for his honesty and caring for his men.
