  1. I got into coding because my previous career was stressful, crazy amounts of OT, high liability, dangerous, and little to no upward mobility. After doing a job where you average 14-16 hour work days, and days off in the middle of the week. A mon-friday 9 to 5 is a vacation. And the fact i make the same amount of money while having a better worklife balance is just a perk. Dont do it just for the money, do it for your sanity

  6. Not here for dating advice but because i really wanted to see if you always been a good speaker on the fly. I tend to say ‘umm’ and ’so’ way too much. while you dont have alot of emotions, you dont stutter or sy ummm alot like i do. ill start making alot of videos until i get to your level of speech.

  9. the course looks nice, unfortunately i already know most of these algorythms i was hoping you would get into Hashtables in Depth as well as graph theory beyond basic trees. I do enjoy the presentation of the course. You explain things very clearly and i hope you sell enough courses to make more! keep up the good work!

  13.  @Ehryyyyuuy  i feel you, hope you can find something that fits your needs. i was lucky to have a supporting family that allowed me to experiment until i found something i liked. it was less money during the transition but once i found what i loved doing it made it all worth it. code is not the only job out there, there is project management too, which requires organization and office skills and no coding at all. look into that if it interests you is way shorter to learn then programing

  20. i bought a windows tablet that has a mobile intel chip (M processor line) no active cooling and it would thermal throttle idling on windows whlie using 6 gb of ram out of the 8 it had. Installed pop-os and i use it for web development. i made a video about it if any of you are interested

  27. UPER process helps me. Understand: what is being asked? ask clarifying questions, understand what the expected output is. Plan: develop a few approaches to a solution. doesn't have to be the most efficient solution, but have multiple approaches. Excecute: implement the quickest solution (not the most efficient but the fastest you can type). Review: make sure you review your code and identify ways to improve the first solution.

  30. The job search made me cry everyday, i love to code and i felt i knew enough to get started but my job search took me 6 months. If i had kids or other responsibilities i would have quit looking for a job and quit tech. But im grateful i found a good company that i see myself growing into

  32. i never meet don, but he was a large influence on me, i was able to learn so much from his videos. His pihosted series was one of the reason i pivoted my channel to self hosting. He fought hard in the background and didn't show his audience the massive battle. I hope he rest in peace. While its really sad news, i'm glad you reported it Jeff.

  34.  @calvinripley9093  that was the same mentality i had when i chosed i major in 2012, i didnt do Computer science because i though site build tool and social media platforms would eliminate the need for developers and engineers. and im kicking myself to this day. ChatGPT is awesome and it will help reduced the work needed to get stuff done. but we are nowhere close to replacing software engineering. at least not yet. software engineering goes much deeper. i learned that after years of messing around. choose CS if it interest you but we are nowhere closed to being replaced by AI.

  35.  @zayn6725  it depends on where you live. for me in my previous job as a corrections officer i had a salary of 40k plus overtime. with overtime i made 65k per year. two years after i resigned, i landed my first tech job and i got a salary of 60k plus bonuses. and that was my first job in a small city in the US. im on my second Job as a softwsre engineer and i make more than that. its still hard, im constantly learning. working with really smart people, and overall i have less stress

  47. I finally got around to doing this project, followed every step and they are still relevant. I did in on a RaspberryPi 3 B with the same Wifi adapter but it is slow at only 2mbps - 5mbps download, even though i seen upload go as high as 20Mbps on a 100Mbps connection. with the Pi 4 its is much faster at 40mbps up and down. Also you say at several points in the video that you will list the commands in the video description but i dont see them anywhere and the links didn't lead to them neither :(

  48. i've been using a phone with a motorized camera since 2020 because i refuse to get a phone with a punch hole. if the next wave of phones has an underscreen camera, it may be time for an upgrade.

  56. I went to Detroit for the first time last summer, my friend was there on a business trip and we meet there. Detroit wasnt as bad as i thought, not great but not bad. alot of Foreign companies have operations there. got to meet people from japan, china and germany. and the locals had a good vive to them. people are more cheerful and sociable in detroit than were i live (New York)

I was told once that just because someone is smart doesn't mean they can teach.   80. Immich FTW! I will be checking out Immich now that FUTO is behind it. I been using Nextcloud Memories for image management, its amazing on the browser, it does proxies as well and part of the Nextcloud Ecosystem but that's the problem, it only works well on browsers and there is not good native android/ios app. There is one in beta but its too laggy
