The deployment of the hypersonic-ballistic Oreshnik missile, capable of carrying nuclear warheads, was no mere “combat test.” It was a calculated signal, a demonstration of Moscow’s resolve to defend its red lines with decisive force. The West’s strategy, built on the illusion of Russian hesitance, is a catastrophic miscalculation. Moscow has no illusions about what’s at stake, and its actions reflect a sobering acknowledgment of the existential threat posed by NATO’s provocations.
Unlike the Cold War, this is no longer a game of chess where careful strategy and mutual respect for red lines dictate moves. This is poker, played with nuclear chips, where bluffing and brinkmanship replace logic and restraint. The U.S. and NATO, emboldened by their own propaganda, are gambling that Russia won’t escalate. But Russia, rooted in a historical memory of existential defense, isn’t playing the West’s game, it’s prepared for survival.
History will not be kind to those who gamble with humanity’s future for the sake of their own political vanity. It’s time for the West to step back, not as an act of weakness, but as an acknowledgment of reality.

“The US, using the Ukrainian crisis, managed to sever economic relations between Europe and Russia and eliminate its economic competitors. They solve their economic problems at the expense of other countries. And to make sure Europe could not receive gas from Russia, the Nord Streams were blown up,” Patrushev asserted.
The US has demonstrated a similar pattern in other regions as well, the security chief suggested, stating that Washington’s efforts to link the Ukrainian crisis to the new escalation in the Middle East between Israel and Hamas were an example of such behavior. Moreover, the US itself has largely provoked the new crisis in the region, the official asserted.
“They act in exactly the same way in Ukraine, where they provoked a coup d’etat, condoned the growth of neo-Nazi ideology, turned Ukraine into a testbed for military-biological experiments, turned a blind eye to the killings of civilians in Donbass, and prepared for military action against our country,” Patrushev told the council.
Now, he added, “representatives of NATO countries are already openly saying that Russia prevented them from approaching its borders, and the Ukrainians are an instrument for the West to contain Russia.” At the same time, the double standard and belligerent actions of the US – and the collective West that it leads – have severely damaged their own credibility, which is now effectively “exhausted,” he said. - RT
If the US stops funding Ukraine, Russia will win the ongoing conflict between the two countries, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told the Senate Appropriations Committee on Monday, making the case for $44 billion more in military and other aid to the government in Kiev.
“I can guarantee that, without our support, [Russian President Vladimir] Putin will be successful,” Austin told the senators. “If we pull the rug out from under them now, Putin will only get stronger and he will be successful in doing what he wants to do.” - RT

[BRAVO, Hungary!]
Hungary has no intention of extraditing Ukrainian citizens, as Kiev intensifies efforts to mobilize more troops for the army, Deputy Prime Minister Zsolt Semjen has said.
In recent weeks, the Ukrainian government has attempted to pressure its citizens who left the country, particularly those living in the EU, to return home, including by asking the bloc’s authorities to support this effort. Many EU members, however, have been reluctant to cooperate.
Semjen told Hungarian broadcaster ATV on Monday that Budapest “would not extradite refugees to Ukraine.” “We do not investigate whether, according to the Ukrainians, the person is conscripted or not. Based on basic humanity, we will not allow them to be sent to their deaths.”
“Every refugee from Ukraine is completely safe with us and receives all the help,” he added. - RT

In an exclusive video report, The Islander's own Steve Sweeney provides a chilling eyewitness account from the Donetsk marketplace, a site of senseless devastation earlier today.
Capturing scenes too inconveniently graphic for the West's client media, Sweeney's report exposes the grim reality of a community torn apart. The marketplace, once a hub of life and laughter, now stands as a haunting symbol of the brutality inflicted by Ukrainian forces, armed and enabled by Western arms, NATO issued 155mm shells.
The bloodstained streets of Donetsk lay bare the West's hand in this tragedy. Their weapons, their support, directly fuel a fascist puppet regime's brutality. Here lies the undeniable justification for Russia's SMO: a stark, necessary shield against the West's cynical game of human chess. As Donetsk mourns, Russia stands as the only bulwark against this orchestrated carnage. - Intel Report

The UK is historically the most hostile Western state in terms of its policy toward Moscow, former Russian Defense Minister Sergey Ivanov claimed on Monday.
Speaking at the launch of a new book, ‘Nazi genocide of the people of the USSR’, Ivanov was asked whether the Nazi plan of “clearing” Russia of its population is still alive in Europe today. The “‘idea,’ if you can call it that, is several hundred years old,” he answered.
“I believe that the most hostile state to Russia is Great Britain, which has been at the same thing for 300-400 years: attempting to limit Russia, limit its influence, limit its economic power – to do everything to make Russia exist on the European periphery,” added Ivanov, who is a permanent member of the Russian Security Council. - RT

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has dismissed the idea of creating “autonomous regions” in Ukraine, floated by Trump ally Rick Grenell, as too little, too late.
Grenell was one of the few trusted operatives in President Donald Trump’s administration, serving first as ambassador to Germany and then as acting director of National Intelligence.
“Where were you, Rick, when the Minsk agreements dedicated to exactly this were on the table of the international community, and Russia did its best in support of them and called for finding a form of federalization of Ukraine to preserve its integrity?” Zakharova said on Telegram, reacting to Grenell’s proposal.
“You were the US ambassador in Berlin at the time and called on the Germans to abandon the construction of the Nord Stream gas pipeline, grossly interfering in the internal affairs of Russia and Germany. Now the Germans are without gas and the economy, and the Ukrainians are without a country and a stable future,” she added. - RT

MILITARY TUBE TODAY-The Russian Armed Forces took initiative control at the Kursk site, taking the overwhelmed Ukrainian and NATO troops, a large number of which were captured increasingly becoming prisoners of war. In 48 hours on August 13-14, 2024, Russian military correspondents documented, several enemy groups becoming Russian captures on the border, but here some infographic images are not shown. Although some on the Russian side were also taken hostage and killed, this senseless operation, culminating in an ambush of Kiev troops by infantry, drones, or aircraft. They opened a new direction where Russian troops had a greater advantage was a boon for Russian troops, despite the temporary victory of Ukrainian media.
It always starts like this in all battles, even if Western mercenaries fight side by side with Ukrainians against Russia. Footage of Ukrainian troops serving in the 80th Air Assault Brigade, captured near the village of Ulanok by the 382nd Battalion of the 810th Brigade, or rather one of the battalions consisting of mobilized Russian fighters. In addition to an assault team of five Ukrainian soldiers who were captured, Russian soldiers also seized important equipment and a ridge in the area. One of the leaders is a suspect in a criminal case initiated by the Investigative Committee regarding the attack on Russian territory. According to the detainees, Zelensky sacrificed some of the most capable and experienced Ukrainian troops for the Kursk campaign.
A new wave of Ukrainian prisoners and liquidation operations, and destruction continue under the leadership of the Russian Special Forces and the Chechen Akhmat troops, on the border. Another Ukrainian detachment that was captured, stated that they had been in the region for only a day, capturing them very quickly in the first days of the operation. They were lucky not to meet Wagner fighters, because the Musicians had warned that they did not plan to take prisoners. A group of the detainees added about their desire to fight the Kiev regime, because throwing these people into the fire, like them were worthless. According to reports for August 13 only in 24 hours in Kursk, the Russian Armed Forces have eliminated up to 420 Ukrainian personnel in NATO operations.
According to the latest reports from the battlefield in Kursk, 120 French soldiers, 180 Polish soldiers, and dozens of British, Estonian and other foreign soldiers from NATO countries, have been identified. It seems that the entire operation was prepared abroad. It was a NATO operation from the start, analysts note. - Military Tube Today

Macgregor said the moves by the U.S. were reckless and had resulted in the “highest state of nuclear alert” in the Russian military. He condemned a statement made by U.S. Rear Admiral Thomas Buchanan, which claimed the U.S. was prepared to fight – and even win – a nuclear war with Russia.
Such remarks “convince the Russians we are preparing for nuclear war,” said Macgregor, stressing that this U.S. officer could not have made this irresponsible and dangerous remark if his senior officer did not support it.
Macgregor said that this must be swiftly followed by the rear admiral’s immediate removal, and also by that of his commander.
The entire liberal-global order faces a hard reckoning following defeat in Ukraine, as this promises to reveal the deep corruption, money laundering, human trafficking, and immense damage to the European economy partnered with the “hundreds of thousands of dead Ukrainians,” which Macgregor says the media is simply refusing to report.
“The media have never told the truth,” Macgregor said angrily. - LewRockwell

Georgia has prevented an attempted overthrow of the government orchestrated by foreign powers, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said. He compared the scenario allegedly prepared for the nation with the situation in Ukraine in 2014.
Speaking on Monday, Kobakhidze referred to the US-backed Maidan coup in Kiev a decade ago, which ousted Ukraine’s democratically elected president, Viktor Yanukovich, and precipitated the current conflict between Moscow and Kiev.
“It took the [Georgian] Ministry of Internal Affairs exactly five days to neutralize the resource of violence of the radical opposition,” Kobakhidze said at a cabinet meeting, thanking the head of the ministry, Vakhtang Gomelauri, and police officers
.
He added that the ministry had acted in accordance with standards “higher than the American and European ones.”
“This is how the attempt of Maidan in our country was stopped in exactly five days,” Kobakhidze concluded. - RT

MILITARY TUBE TODAY - Finally, Russian harsh retaliation has come! This morning, August 26, 2024, the Russian Armed Forces launched a massive thunderous strike across Ukraine with high-precision weapons against critical energy infrastructure that ensures the operation of the complex, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation said. According to preliminary estimates, more than 60 missiles and 100 drones were used in the strike on the map of Ukraine territory for two hours. Russia has long since stopped carrying out missile and drone strikes, which were so massive and dense in many cities - in some places they are already rumbling again. There is almost no air defense work in the attack area, and it seems that most of the air defense has been withdrawn to the borders of the Kursk region.
Videos are circulating on the Internet filmed by local residents, at least one missile arriving at the Kiev hydroelectric power station. According to initial reports from Ukrainian media, the explosion caused severe damage to the engine room and on the road leading to the dam of the power plant. Earlier, authorities reported that traffic along the dam in both directions was blocked at least until lunchtime. Emergency power outages began after the strike. According to the analysis, the attack was only a warning and pressure on Kiev officials, if Russia really wanted to destroy it completely, they would have used Khinzal missile or at least 4 cruise missiles. If successful, this would have flooded one of the largest cities in Europe permanently.
According to preliminary estimates at the moment, several explosions were heard in Kiev including at Zhuliany Airport, and at least 10 regions were targeted. The water supply in Zhitomir has been completely stopped after a strike at an electricity distribution station. The Usatovo substation, an important electricity distribution center in the Odessa region, was burned down – four arrivals were recorded and thick smoke was seen rising, causing a power outage. In addition, at least 30 trucks were burned down as a result of shooting at a motor transport company near Odessa. Many regions of Ukraine are experiencing widespread power outages, railway infrastructure is down, and water supplies are also cut off. The list of targets will be long, and there is no rush to conclusions!

UKRAINE COMMITS WAR CRIMES IN KURSK (pre-war Russia) - grim footage above reportedly shows Russian civilians strewn across hot concrete, shot dead by Ukrainian forces during Kursk incursion, as Zelensky's Nazis crushed on battlefield, resort to "creativity and prowess" horrific crimes against humanity.
Ukrainian drone also struck civilian vehicle, killing driver, injuring others, as Commander of Russia's Chechen Akhmat forces Alaudinov reports "Ukrainian Army on war-crime spree in Kursk.
Ukrainians settled down in building's ground floor, chased children and teachers upstairs to use as human shields. I received huge number of photos in which civilians were simply shot at point-blank range, in head and back. All unfortunately, died - Alaudinov, stressing suicidal foray going nowhere and West-backed troops on way to defeat. - Intel Republic

So let us review some crucial facts:
Ukraine is suffering devastating military casualties and does not have a trained reserve force it can send to the battlefield.
Ukraine lacks a viable fixed wing combat air capability.
Ukraine lacks a stockpile of tanks, vehicles, artillery, artillery shells.
Ukraine does not have secure training facilities/bases on its own territory and must rely on other NATO countries to provide training. (This means the training is limited and not standardized.)
Ukraine’s counter-offensive, which was supposed to breach Russia’s Surovikin defense lines, has failed and Ukraine lacks the combat power to escalate attacks.
Russia, by contrast, has ample numbers of trained troop reserves, artillery ammunition, artillery (mobile and fixed), cruise missiles, drones, more than a thousand fixed wing combat aircraft, attack helicopters, and massive air defense systems.
Russia is self-sufficient in critical natural resources required to supply its defense industries.
Russia is no longer dependent on the West for trade and its economy is growing in-spite of Western economic sanctions.
Many Western analysts insist that the situation unfolding in Ukraine is a stalemate and postulate that the war with Russia will drag on for years to come. Nonsense. Given the facts outlined above, the advantages fall entirely into the Russian side of the ledger. Ukraine does not enjoy a single advantage over Russia at this stage. In my view, it is unlikely that the Russian/Ukrainian war will produce a stalemate. - Sonar21

I recall my boss at State Counter Terrorism — retired USMC Colonel Dick Gannon — saying, “You can’t fix stupid.” The U.S. and U.K. airstrikes on Yemen are absolutely stupid and is likely to ignite a spiral of violence that will leave Americans and Brits dead. The cable news shows absolutely love this story. They get to show video footage of F-18s zooming off the deck of a carrier and pictures of boiling clouds of black smoke risking above the cities of Sana’a and Al-Hudaydah (see above).
But what does this accomplish? From a military standpoint it is unlikely that these bombings destroyed or damaged any Houthi rocket/drone/missile warehouses. Why? Because Antony Blinken briefed the leaders of Turkey, Greece, Jordan, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia on the U.S. plan to hit Yemen. What are the odds that at least one senior person in the know passed that info along to folks in Yemen? I put it at 100%.
So what? That gave Yemen time to disperse its assets or hide them in a secure location. I wonder if Shakespeare had Joe Biden in mind when he penned this observation in Macbeth:
Life’s but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more: it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
This bombing is unlikely to achieve any meaningful degrading of Yemeni missile and drone capabilities, but it will rally more of the global Arab and muslim street to the side of the Houthis. It also raises the risk that the Houthis, who up until now had only targeted ships linked to Israel, will expand targets to include U.S. and U.K. vessels. Important to remember that the U.S. and U.K. ships can only spend a limited time in the Red Sea before they have to set sail for a port, such as Dubai, where the destroyers can replace the empty VLS missile tubes.
Keep your eye on USCENTCOM — the U.S. miitary element responsible for military operations in the Middle East. CENTCOM normally conducts regular exercises for its own forces and with the forces of friendly nations. If the exercises currently on the calendar are executed then that is a signal that the CENTCOM commander does not expect much fallout from these strikes. However, if CENTCOM moves to cancel exercises then that signals the U.S. military is buckling up for an extended conflict. And that raises a more serious and significant question — how does the U.S. sustain naval combat operations when it is already running low on inventories of missiles?
There also is an interesting legal question about the legitimacy of Biden ordering this strike. It does not fall under the Authorization for Use of Military Force (aka AUMF) issued in 2001 in the wake of the 9-11 attacks. Although Donald Trump as President designated the Houthis as a terror group, which could be argued falls under the 2001 AUMF, Joe Biden de-listed the Houtis. Therefore, under what legal authority did Biden commit and act of war against Yemen without Congressional approval? There are several members of the President’s own party raising hell about this tonight. - Sonar21
