  3. The US has been using economic methods in an attempt to weaken Russia and hopefully to help get rid of Putin. The goal is to return to the sort of arrangement in place when Yeltsin was in power. These economic methods have been used against other countries, too. They include sanctions, interfering with currency transactions, interfering with gold repatriation, extra-territorial claims based on use of the US dollar, seizure of assets, and attempts to confiscate seized assets and use them for US purposes. The politicians in the West continue to promote these methods, even though mainstream scholarly works point out that in many, if not most cases, the use of such methods will not work properly. They will instead blow back on the US and cause numerous undesirable side effects and other unpleasant results. These cautionary findings have been borne out in fact. The leaders of China, Russia, Iran, Venezuela, Syria, and North Korea are all still in their jobs. OPEC plus Russia is still controlling the world oil market, the Russian and Chinese systems continue to replace SWIFT, more and more trade is conducted in local currencies, and the disagreements over using seized Russian assets are causing more cracks in NATO. Nations are becoming more skeptical about leaving their gold or other assets in the US or UK for safe-keeping. One opinion is that these US pillars of exceptionalism are under attack to destroy the existing system in order to ‘build back better’ and ‘you will own nothing and be happy.’ This may have made more sense back around the year 2000, before China and Russia got their act together. Whoever controlled the West, in some sense, controlled the world. Now, however, Russia and China are out from under that control and the US has been relegated to the number two position both economically and militarily. Russia is number one militarily and China is number one economically. The problem is that these facts have not sunk into the ‘little gray cells’ of the Western plutocrats, much less the mere billionaires. Asia and Africa show a distinct distaste for the ideas and plans of the WEF and most of ‘Wokism,’ and the West is too weak to force implementation in those continents. Barring a miracle (unlikely considering that the Establishment no longer believes in a miracle-working god), the end of the Age of the West is nigh. The future is with the East and the South, unless the West drastically changes course. - Sonar21
