A large number of Americans still think that Russia is the Soviet Union, that the country is a crumbling wreck and the people are atheists and miserable. Boy, are they wrong.
Although I have only visited the two largest cities in Russia — Moscow in the winter and St. Petersburg on the cusp of summer — I can report that the average Russian appears to be living as well, if not better, than their counterparts in the United States or Japan. Especially when it comes to quality of life. Unlike the big cities in the United States, you can stroll along the streets and boulevards of Moscow or St. Petersburg without worrying about getting mugged or stumbling over some homeless addict sprawled on the sidewalk. The streets are clean. No used needles or face masks.
What about Russia’s military casualties? I spoke with a former soldier, who approached me at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, to express his frustration about Western propaganda. He made the same point I have — i.e., if Russia had suffered the number of casualties that Ukraine is claiming to have inflicted, Russia social media would be ablaze with photos and videos of fresh graves in cemeteries. Or, you would see multitudes of guys missing limbs or confined to wheel chairs moving down the sidewalks. I did not see that. While I am sure that Russia has suffered casualties, it has not reached a level that it is attracting public attention and comments on social media.
I will close with a comment on the Zionist hostage rescue operation that took place over the weekend. While it is true that four hostages were freed, I suspect the operation was not the smashing success that is being touted in Western media. There are reports that the Israelis suffered some significant casualties and that other hostages were killed during the course of the operation. - Sonar21

"The Ukrainian and Western intelligence services are expanding the circle of possible perpetrators, recruited to commit high-profile crimes inside Russia,” Bortikov said. Kiev and its foreign backers are also assisting “international terrorist organizations,” which train and provide equipment to those people, he added.
"A vivid example [of such activities] is the involvement of Ukrainian military intelligence in the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall near Moscow that was established by us,” the FSB chief stressed.
Since the outbreak of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, a total of 134 terrorist and sabotage acts have been prevented in central Russia, according to Bortnikov.
Russian security agencies have also intercepted the activities of 32 international terrorist cells, which were composed of migrants from Central Asia, and prevented attacks on key infrastructure and areas of mass gatherings, the FSB chief said. - RT

Washington will stop at nothing, including the use of neo-Nazis, to damage Russia, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, following a US decision to lift a ban on supplying weapons to Ukraine’s Azov Brigade.
The unit has notoriously welcomed into its ranks people who espouse ultranationalist and neo-Nazi ideologies, and has been described by the Western press as a magnet for such individuals from across the world.
On Monday, the US Department of State cleared the brigade to receive American military assistance, stating that it found no evidence of human rights violations by the group.
Many Azov fighters surrendered to Russian troops during the siege of the city of Mariupol in 2022. Moscow has accused the members of the unit of war crimes, including torture and the execution of civilians.
“This sudden change of stance by Washington proves that [US officials] would stoop to anything in their attempts to suppress Russia, using the Ukrainian people as a tool. They are even fine with flirting with neo-Nazis,” Peskov told journalists during a media briefing. - RT
