Someone who has never been in military have no idea what Russia did to prep the gray zone in Russia's favor ,mines ,removing strustures so troops cant hide, forcing the Ukraine troops to move in a certain direction as most armys move to a path of least resistance,also defenders have prepared outposts of resistence that are able to move as the fight goes on. There might even more things but gray zone or as we call it a kill zone is the first step in layered defensives.
