@sarahk441 this includes your own family home- if you are retired and go cruise round the world for more than 6 months- you have to tell the tax office and pay vacancy tax. Otherwise they tax and penalise you another 25% of the tax Tax is at 15% of the capital gains tax of your home So many older folks are unable to spend more than 6 months outside their home- eg visit grandchildren in greece or cruise of a life time before they die
