  35.  @scapegoat1313  I am thoroughly familiar with America's youth having hired kids right out of college for decades. The more recent kids didn't do any better on the problems that I gave them to work at their interview then the previous ones did and they seemed a bit less knowledgeable than before. The thing that I did notice went up was the cumes on the resumes and their sense of unearned entitlement. Fortunately I'm considered gifted in the area of hiring people and no matter what generation I was hiring kids from I still found the good ones it was just harder. Also for the record, I was a very bright, educated and well read 28 year old but 37 years later, after a full career in a complex and multifaceted disaplin, another 1000+ books read and a ton of life experience later I am dramatically more knowledgeable than my rather impressive 28 year old self. That said there are great people in every generation I would just argue that the percentage is going down because I have known tons of very impressive people between the ages of 20 and 100.

  37.  @leeaposmall8829  I hired them for positions that you would not be smart enough to fill. I interviewed a lot of very smart kids who just weren't smart enough to work for me. I hired them to do Actuarial analytics, financial forecasting, evaluation of various strategy proposals as an aid to the strategic planning process, adhoc financial/actuarial analysis (which we got a lot of because we're really good at knocking the stuff out) and we also did anything that the company had never done before like evaluating Obamacare as it was being written or all the initial analytical work for Medicare advantage when the company was entering the business (this was because my brain that you mock was capable of taking on the new stuff putting it all together getting it up and running and then usually spinning it off to a specialized team who would take it from there a year or two down the road). these were exceptionally smart kids with academic backgrounds in mathematics, statistics, economics physics pretty much any rigorous mathematical analytical background. Beyond their educational background most had other intellectual hobbies one girl spoke four languages you get the picture much smarter people than you. As for calling me full of crap well I think it's pretty clear who the full of crap person is in this exchange. You wouldn't even have gotten an interview to work for somebody that worked for somebody who worked for somebody who works for me. Have a bad day!
