@NFLOLDMAN771 I spent years in corporate America and what's a hiring manager for a very long time. I saw zero racial discrimination. I personally couldn't afford to do anything then hire the absolute best person for the job. My area was too busy and way too important to the corporation.

@finfrog3237 well actually speaking as a slightly dyslexic left-handed math genius I've always been an abysmal speller. That didn't stop me from reaching the point where in my highest level of my career I had responsibility for the actual analytics and strategy involving 4 billion dollars in healthcare spending in 2 billion dollars in property and casualty spelling. Spell check and Junior colleagues solve the problem. That didn't stop me from being the butt of jokes about my spelling but I think it was almost a relief to people that I had a flaw because I was so f**** good at what I did. For the record you couldn't handle the job I had for 10 seconds way out of your depth

@Packhorse-bh8qnno the participation trophies didn't start before 25 years ago. Affirmative action however did. It started in the 70s a while I never thought it was a good idea it was intended to be a temporary fix not a way of life

@Packhorse-bh8qn I'll give you a brief answer to your question but first we need to get a couple of things straight A. You don't get to give me homework assignments B. I find basic questions like this insulting. While I understand that you do not have any way of knowing this I am an exceptionally bright 66-year-old man who has been a knowledge junkie since the age of eight. Three degrees, two of them the masters degrees in widely separated disciplines, two of them in the physical sciences, successful in a mind-boggling complex discipline the required expert level of knowledge in several areas and a working knowledge of about 8 more. I have read approximately 1,500 books, a thousand of them non-fiction history. My TV viewing consists of documentaries and news (well you can add NFL football to that list in the fall). I also discuss these kinds of issues all the time with a variety of extremely bright highly educated well read friends (two of then multiplily published authors a third a well known microbiologist and geneticist). I suspect that I know more than you across at least a dozen different disciplines. C. Lots of people call me and ask me questions all the time and I don't mind answering them because they're asking questions that they don't already know the answer to. This is in my private life as well as at work where I was known as The answer Man. John Dewey among other things was an early 20th century social education reformer. His most dangerous idea is that the school's job to "socially mold" students in other words going well beyond the transfer of knowledge. I've always thought this is an extremely dangerous idea that the state has no business trying to mold children's views and and that this has become even more dangerous over the last 30 years as the left has expanded its stranglehold on higher education and has extended it's reach into K through 12 education. Education is one of a number of issues that I follow very closely. As an arch conservative I find these ideas very disturbing. Are you happy now?

@Aphotic_One equality of opportunity is fair. If we want to to create more opportunity for people who have less start by increasing the quality of the education they receive. In other words you have to help them train better for the race you don't just cut to the finish line and hand out trophies to however you feel deserve them the most. That is exactly what is happening in practice

@Nowhy more gobbledygook. People like me who are hiring people are adaptive and not locked into something that's been done for a hundred years and I have precious few hiring mistakes to learn from I was really good at it. There was no discrimination of favoritism in any part of the process. I always hired the absolute best person that I could get and I was good at finding the exceptional ones. In fact I never saw any discrimination in hiring by anyone other than a tendency to promote women over men wait since I never practiced the reverse pisses me off.
