@walterpierce6061 the big deal is that they should not be counted for the purpose of apportionment of congressional seats and electoral votes. You're rewarding states and cities that knowingly break the law.

@walterpierce6061 my observation is that most teachers are not the brightest bulbs on the chandelier. I'm sure I know more history and civics than you know and you're just wrong. The wording of the relevant amendment makes exclusions for certain people born here and talks about people who are subject to the jurisdiction of the United States.

@what2dew811 I've read the Constitution and a lot more than that regarding this topic and birthright citizenship is a misinterpretation of the constitutional amendment. It was intended to ensure that the children of the recently freed slaves in the children of the native Americans were citizens.
