  2. Back in the late 80's and early 90's a patient of mine was taking BJJ, he was a cop on north shore, Oahu. He introduced chokes into the Honolulu Police Dept. as many were using Kenpo and were bringing beat up people into court. They lost many cases, so BJJ was adopted. Now, it is outlawed. It is easier for all concerned to use choke holds to arrest combative citizens rather than taking them to the ground.
