  1. It's wild how badly our taxes are mismanaged and abused. It feels gross to pay them sometimes because it's so obvious how corrupt the system is. On the other hand, I'd rather be able to walk down a sidewalk than a mud path, so obviously some taxes are necessary if people don't want to live in squalor. If the gov't actually managed taxes properly and used them to help society, it wouldn't feel so gross to pay them. Instead, I feel like I'm paying a rapacious mafia quarterly dividends.

  2.  @nomadcapitalist  Exactly. Probably 5% of the taxes I pay I'm actually comfortable with how they're put to use.
