  1. SMS Möve. It was a banana boat named Pongo before the Imperial German Navy took it over. It became one of the most successful merchant raiders ever, sinking 40 ships and laying the mines that sunk the battleship HMS Edward VII. It survived the First World War and the Brits finally managed to sink it in 1945. Honourable mention to the raider SMS Wolf which sunk 27 ships in an epic 427 day voyage. (I'm Australian.)
