  1. The American respect for their former presidents amazes me, but perhaps the United States is the only western country where many people still think politics is an honourable profession. Other countries view politicians as dodgy characters and they would never name a ship, a school or anything else after one of them.

  2. I had always thought *too much Drach is never enough*, but when confronted with 260 minutes I changed my mind. This is going to take me a few days to get through.

  3. I think the days of the BBC being clear and easy to understand are in the distant past. Recently there has been a woman who covers British affairs for the BBC World Service, but she has such a thick "subcontinental"' accent, that it's a real effort to understand her.
