  1.  @steveamsp  Exactly, how many admirals made such a huge impact that they are still widely talked about over a century after their deaths? Not many, there's Nelson, Fisher and Byng, although he was executed for cowardice, so not the best epitaph.

  3. Hey, all my ancestors going back 185 years are from South Australia and Victoria. Neither of those states got convicts, so there's no criminal blood in my veins!

  4.  @ianyoung1106  Well around 1802 they tried a settlement near Portsea, but they didn't like it and moved on to establish Hobart instead, taking everyone with them except Buckley. So I don't think a few convicts who only stayed a couple of months counts. They did try and send a shipload of "exiles" (not quite convicts) to Melbourne in circa 1849. But the public rioted at the idea of semi-convicts in their city and the ship was ordered to go to Sydney instead.
