The rich persons are 0.8%, and paying remaining 50% of the direct taxes.

Upper and rich should pay, and are paying half of the taxes despite being less than 2%. In reality, big farmers are not paying any tax. They are doing tax evasion. When it comes to GST, items consumed by rich are taxed more than items consumed by poor. So, taxation is not a problem anymore. The real problem is lack of good paying jobs for lower middle class and poor. And that is because people don't have proper skills. Colleges owned by politicians are looting through donations while selling substandard education. Manufacturing is hurt by high electricity cost, to bear cross-subsidy for farmers' free electricity, who don't pay any tax. So, MSMEs don't have money left to create jobs, and have to face bureacratic terrorism. These are the real issues. Not taxes. Shout for reforms in agriculture and labour, so that poor can earn more, and be less dependent on freebies. Farm reforms had to be taken back and new labour reforms are not implemented by State govts. Talk about these solutions being blocked by vested interests.

Donald Trump called India a currency manipulator at that time, and India was added to a list of manipulators. Go check news of that time. And the money has been spent mostly on Infrastructure, Ayushmaan Bharat, Defence, Farm/food subsidy, Salary/Pensions and interest repayments. You only see "industrialists". But these create lot of jobs through subcontractors, and demand for cement and steel industry, for labourers and engineers in all these sectors. China developed the same way. The GDP growth created this way, is nore than the debt itself. It's called multiplier. That is why, the debt-to-GDP ratio is now coming down. It was 89% in 2021. Then came down to 83% in 2024. In fact, we need such constructive expenditure i.e. capex, that creates more GDP and therefore more jobs.

In 2017, she joined SEBI as just a member, and she transferred the fund units to her husband in Singapore. In 2018, she and her husband sold the units, because the fund manager, who was their friend, left the management. All this has happened before she became Chairperson in 2022. And also Adani shares started rising from 2020 onwards. This is my own observation. So, there is no conflict of interest.

And it was heavy rains this year due to El Nino, because of airport canopy collapsed. But these don't cost as much money as you think. Just look at the budget of GoI. Majority expenses are in Farm Subsidy, Infrastructure (highway construction), Defence purchase, Ayushmaan Bharat, Salaries and Pensions and Interest payments. And rich farmers don't pay any taxes, even if they earn 1 crore. So, all burden comes on few people. Powercuts are happening due to electricity subsidy. Because of free electricity, discoms are not having cash flow to buy electricity for future, and this is causing load-shedding. And biggest payment defaults are from govt offices.

All this needs to stop. Once, these big farmers are taxed properly, then petrol tax can be cut.
