After a period of slump, it has recovered. UPA era was not growth. It sowed the seeds of it's destruction, when NPAs were evergreened by them.

When people don't pay taxes, and love freebies, then infrastructure has to be built on borrowing.

@dineshkpandey0368 Are you upper middle class or lower middle class? Lower middle class got direct tax cuts. Upper and rich should pay, and are paying half of the taxes despite being less than 2%. In reality, big farmers are not paying any tax. They are doing tax evasion. When it comes to GST, items consumed by rich are taxed more than items consumed by poor. So, taxation is not a problem anymore. The real problem is lack of good paying jobs for lower middle class and poor. And that is because people don't have proper skills. Colleges owned by politicians are looting through donations while selling substandard education. Manufacturing is hurt by high electricity cost, to bear cross-subsidy for farmers' free electricity, who don't pay any tax. So, MSMEs don't have money left to create jobs, and have to face bureacratic terrorism. These are the real issues. Not taxes. Shout for reforms in agriculture and labour, so that poor can earn more, and be less dependent on freebies. Farm reforms had to be taken back and new labour reforms are not implemented by State govts. Talk about these solutions being blocked by vested interests.

@godsgrace4921 Read budget sometime. 60% of GST goes to state. Petrol excise duty is just enough for subsidies for farm/food/fertilizer etc. Remaining GST direct/corporate tax is covering - salary/pensions/interest/defence, central schemes like tap water scheme etc. Highways/freight corridors are built purely on debt.

@godsgrace4921 Your ignorance is laughable. 20 new satellite cities are coming, as we spoke, due to these rail and road connectivity. Logistics cost are coming down rapidly which helps MSMEs. You only see "industrialists". But these create lot of jobs through subcontractors, and demand for cement and steel industry, for labourers and engineers in all these sectors. China developed the same way. The GDP growth created this way, is nore than the debt itself. It's called multiplier. That is why, the debt-to-GDP ratio is now coming down. It was 89% in 2021. Then came down to 83% in 2024. In fact, we need such constructive expenditure i.e. capex, that creates more GDP and therefore more jobs.

@godsgrace4921 labour cost has increased due to freebies. Workers are enjoying freebie at home, so no one going to work. And freebies are increasing bad debt of state govts. Because freebies don't get any work done.

@godsgrace4921 You listen carefully. Check data, then talk. debt-to-GDP ratio increased and staying constant. Only freebies increase debt permanently, like Kerala, Karnataka, Himachal, going bankrupt. Infra increases debt in beginning, and reduces later because GDP growth happens.

Yes. Between 2013 and 2025, time stopped, rt? Fiscal deficit was below 4% until 2020, it rose to 6% after pandemic, and it has come down to 4.8%. And fiscal deficit of UPA after 2008 financial crisis was above 5%, but they didn't spend on infrastructure like BJP did. So, we had high inflation and growth slumped. Formalization is happening through UPI and e-Shram portal. New labour codes will also increase formalization. But Leftist trade unions are opposing. Don't worry, they will be implemented soon.
