  5. It is misleading to say, middle class is paying more taxes. Middle class itself is divided into lower and upper middle class. And rich are separate. Total non-zero direct tax paying individuals are 3%. Lower middle class doesn't pay anything. Upper middle class are 2.2% in the 3% tax payers and are paying 50% of the taxes. The rich persons are 0.8%, and paying remaining 50% of the direct taxes.

  6.  @shivar2270  Doesn't matter who you vote. Just look at Himachal and Karnataka going bankrupt. Petrol prices increased in both states. Khatakhat policies will make situation even worse. Go fight with rich farmers, if you really care.

  7.  @mg7685  My gripe is that opposition is misleading everyone. The current state of taxation, in our country is justified. There is nothing wrong. No one needs to pay more or less taxes. But environment for better job creation is needed. For that various reforms need to be done.

  8. @NewstatePlayer100  One way is to tax more ppl. Other is to tax nobody, but that will lead to massive debt and inflation. Or maybe tax is not the real problem. It is ultimately the waste of resources, and people not being employed in a useful manner that is the problem. Eg: Crop diversification, and enabling small farmers to have more selling opportunities and becoming energy independent, will fix wastage and make us self-sufficient, so that we get our money's worth.

  13. @Guri22013  I also pay all the taxes that you mentioned. But who is getting all the benefits of the taxes? Ram Mandir is built from private donations not taxes. And it was heavy rains this year due to El Nino, because of airport canopy collapsed. But these don't cost as much money as you think. Just look at the budget of GoI. Majority expenses are in Farm Subsidy, Infrastructure (highway construction), Defence purchase, Ayushmaan Bharat, Salaries and Pensions and Interest payments. And rich farmers don't pay any taxes, even if they earn 1 crore. So, all burden comes on few people. Powercuts are happening due to electricity subsidy. Because of free electricity, discoms are not having cash flow to buy electricity for future, and this is causing load-shedding. And biggest payment defaults are from govt offices.

  14. ​ @Jeevaji14 Before GST, there was VAT. It was more. GST is not th problem. But petrol taxes used for wasteful subsidies are the problem.
