Stopping the growing of rice and sugarcane, will also solve a lot of problems. Both water and electricity will be saved.

Hardly 5000 MPs and MLAs are there in India. You won't save a lot. But yeah, they should pay as a matter of principle.

@akshatprakash871 Western UP is fine because they have perennial rivers. Maharashtra's Vidarbha area is facing drought.

Well, "feku" made Coal India produce more coal, and he allowed private coal mining companies that would be more efficient. But pappu followers blocked pri ate coal mines, by filing PILs in courts. So, private coal mines are not functioning at all. We declare private sector as criminals. When in fact, they are more efficient.

Correct. Direct cash transfer is better.

Adani isn't selling at any price. Maximum price ia set by Central Electricity Authority. SG sir, covered in the video. State governments don't have money left to buy power, so they are resorting to buying less power and doing load-shedding.
1
@ani_ds12 But state govt dues are in lakhs of crores. MP/MLA would be using only a few thousand crores. Orders of magnitude is different.

Middle class can afford, if we fix the system. Instead of giving free electricity, reduce VAT on petrol. Then the money saved on taxes can be used by citizen to pay for electricity, at market rates. Paying for electricity, will avoid wastage that inevitably happens, when it is provided for free. Parallelly, central government can reduce some excise duty. But we should also reduce demand due to growing of rice in Punjab and sugarcane in Maharashtra.

Libya had oil reserves. And used that money to give free stuff. Wise man indeed

Become farmer. You will get free bijli.
1
Solution is don't give free power. But give direct transfer of benefits to poor people, or give negative tax to them. And avoid wastage of poor, due to growing of rice in Punjab and sugarcane in Vidarbha.
1
In that case, government can give direct transfer of cash to poorer sections to buy water. Direct transfer is better than giving free. Because then, market doesn't get distorted.

@NithinNitwiter And how did those bad loans get created in the first place? Reckless lending during 2006-2008 and evergreening of loans did.
1
@ThePrintIndia Wow! Thank you. Just echoing what I learnt from this channel.

@switchblade970 Those farmer castes are actually the cronies. They are looting taxpayer, in the name of free electricity and water, and then forcing govt to buy excess rice/wheat/sugarcane at artificially high MSP. They are refusing to diversify, just for money. Because of them, Punjab is facing powercuts, and Maharashtra is seeing suicide of non-sugarcane farmers due to depleted water.
1
You got just as much power, as you paid for. :)
1
Is Nepal electricity cheaper than Indian electricity? The problem is state govt don't have money.
1
Telengana is a rich state. For now, your freebies have not yet bankrupted the state. But state debt is increasing. There is still time to stop freebies, or in a couple of years, you will also have same situation.
1
Nuclear and biogas, are better.
1
When electricity is costly, people use less. When electricity is free, they get less. But in former case, people have control over the situation, wastage is less and companies don't do bankrupt.
1
Because coal sector was highly restricted. But of late, production has increased. Guptaji mentioned that.
1
Even then Adani can't make money, because as Guptaji said, there is a maximum limit to electricity rates, which is set by Central Electricity Authority. But Adani can buy his own coal cheaply for his own power plants. And if state govts don't pay Adani Power, then that plant will also shut down. So, it's a long winding way of saying, if you don't pay for electricity, you won't get it.

@VishalKumar-xp6gz PLI schemes to textile, pharma and pulse/edible oil mission are not freebies. They help create production capacity of things that are in shortage. In other words, they reduce shortage. But free electricity, creates wastage of already scarce resource, and creates more shortage. Know the difference.
