  3. I think, fundamentally, UP is too big a state. Splitting it, would create more CM positions to vie for. And it will be good for UP too. The age of monarchy had one big advantage over today - flexible boundaries of a kingdom. Competing heirs could be given a carved out territory, to pacify internal fights. In similar vein, BJP can give some districts to Yogi and some to Maurya, and then based on their performance in state elections, choose the CM.
