I don't see, the problem in an elected govt, wanting unelected bureacrats to toe the line. Institutional independence doesn't mean, they should work differently from what the voter wants. Please focus on discussing policies that will get implemented. Policies that were promised in the manifesto, their merits and implementation challenges, and whether anything is breaking the law or not.

@grapeshott They are as independent as they need to be. But they must be subservient to the elected govt. Because babus are not answerable to the public. Elected leaders are.
