  1. Taxes are being swindled to Punjab. Maximum MSP procurement beneficiary is Punjab. And they produce excess, blackmail govt to increase MSP. UP is spending the money on productive things, not unproductive things like Punjab.

  4. Punjab needs to be taken to task. This pampering through rice procurement must stop, and force them to diversify. Just by handing over MSP procurement to States, we can cut Central taxes on petrol. Historical rice producers - UP/Bihar/Bengal will benefit from this. Also, MSP formula of 59% over production cost, creates moral hazard to deliberately hike cost of production. Cheaper producers are disincentivized.

  5. Question Punjab. They are overproducing rice and blackmailing for more MSP. Most of Centre's petrol taxes are going into MSP budget. Then these rich landlords go to Canada and do crazy stuff.
