Focus should be on having few people fighting effectively, with good equipment. Not on sending large number of people with poor equipment, letting them die and then compensating their lives with money. We should avoid deaths, and use the money to make their life better by investing in infrastructure, healthcare and education.

@adarshwanderer5704 Do you care about the fact that, maximum defence expenditure is on salary and pensions. And less money is left for buying advanced equipment? Modern warfare focuses on less manpower, less casualty, and using advance equipment to fight effectively. You don't want to send large number of people with poor equipment, just to die, so they can get pensions for their widows. You want most of those people to work in manufacturing sector, while few go fight effectively. The saved money can be used on healthcare, education and infrastructure. Focus should be on living better, not dying.

@xxyz2023 Pakistan deprives it's citizens to pay its army. It's in tatter. China actually has money. And even they have modernized their army. In fact, Agniveer will modernize Indian Army like China has. Otherwise, we will go bankrupt like Pakistan. And talking of imports, even for indigenous development, you need money. Where will you arrange that, if everything is spent on salary and pensions? And actually, Modi govt has focused the most on indigenous development. Orders for 83 Tejas given.
